Activation code vouchers

Background information

Activation code vouchers can only be used to redeem activation codes for the IoT Platform. For more information about activation codes, see Activation code billing.

Overview of activation code vouchers

When you purchase official chips on the IoT Platform, you receive free activation code vouchers. You can use these vouchers to redeem activation codes for Tmall Genie ecosystem projects and self-branded projects.

To facilitate usage across different roles during IoT development, the platform lets you transfer activation code vouchers to other accounts. For more information, see the How to transfer activation code vouchers section.

How to obtain activation code vouchers

You can obtain activation code vouchers when you purchase chips in the following ways:

• On the homepage of the IoT Platform console, click Purchase official chips and get free activation code vouchers in the upper-right corner to select and purchase a suitable chip.

• On the Activation Code Management > Activation Code Overview page, click Purchase official chips and receive free activation code vouchers in the upper-right corner to select and purchase a suitable chip.

• On the Activation Code Management > Activation Code Vouchers page, click Purchase Official Chips in the upper-right corner to select a suitable chip.

How to redeem activation code vouchers

1. After you purchase chips, the activation code vouchers that you receive are displayed in the Inventory Status section on the Activation Code Management > Redeem Device Activation Codes page.

   The platform provides two types of activation code vouchers:

   • Non-Bluetooth activation code vouchers

     These vouchers are provided when you purchase official non-Bluetooth chips. For the corresponding device types, see the table above.

   • Bluetooth activation code vouchers

     These vouchers are provided when you purchase official Bluetooth chips. For the corresponding device types, see the table above.

2. Different device types require different activation codes. You must select the activation code voucher that corresponds to your device type to redeem.

   The following steps show an example of how to redeem a non-Bluetooth activation code voucher:

   1. On the non-Bluetooth activation code voucher tab, click Redeem Activation Code.

   2. Select the project where you want to use the activation code.

   3. Enter the number of activation codes to redeem based on your inventory and click Confirm.

   Important

   Activation codes for Tmall Genie ecosystem projects and self-branded projects are not interchangeable. Choose carefully.

   • Activation codes for Tmall Genie ecosystem projects

     Activation codes for this project type can only be used to activate devices in Tmall Genie ecosystem projects. For more information about using activation codes, see Mass-produce devices.

   • Activation codes for self-branded projects

     Activation codes for this project type can only be used to activate devices in self-branded projects. For more information about using activation codes, see Mass-produce devices.

How to transfer activation code vouchers

If you do not need to use the activation code vouchers in your current account after purchasing official chips, you can transfer the vouchers to the account of a collaborative developer.

The following steps show an example of how to transfer a non-Bluetooth activation code voucher:

1. On the non-Bluetooth activation code voucher tab, click Transfer Activation Code.

2. In the pop-up window, enter the account name, Alibaba Cloud ID, and the number of activation code vouchers to transfer.

3. After you confirm that the information is correct, click Confirm to request the transfer of the activation code vouchers.

4. After the platform approves the request, the activation code vouchers are transferred from your current account to the specified account. If the request is not approved, the vouchers remain in your current account.

How to transfer activation code vouchers

If you do not need to use the activation code vouchers in your current account after purchasing official chips, you can transfer the vouchers to the account of a collaborative developer.

The following steps show an example of how to transfer a non-Bluetooth activation code voucher:

1. On the non-Bluetooth activation code voucher tab, click Transfer Activation Code.

2. In the pop-up window, enter the account name, Alibaba Cloud ID, and the number of activation code vouchers to transfer.

3. After you confirm that the information is correct, click Confirm to submit the transfer request.

4. After the platform approves the request, the activation code vouchers are transferred from your current account to the specified account. If the request is not approved, the vouchers remain in your current account.
