This topic describes how to verify domain ownership.

Context

When you add a new domain to EMAS Serverless static website hosting for the first time, you must verify your ownership of the domain. After the domain is verified, EMAS Serverless recognizes you as the owner of the domain. You do not need to re-verify the domain or its subdomains when you add them in the EMAS Serverless console. EMAS Serverless provides two validation methods: DNS resolution and file validation. You can choose either method. This topic uses the domain a.com as an example to demonstrate how to verify domain ownership.

Method 1: DNS resolution validation (Recommended)

To use DNS validation when you add a new accelerated domain name, follow these steps:

  1. Obtain the record type, host record, and record value for the accelerated domain name.

    1. Log on to the EMAS console, choose Serverless, and then click click to enter.

    2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Static Website Hosting > Settings > Add Domain. When adding a domain for the first time, add the specified TXT record as prompted.

  2. Add a record.

    1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DNS console.

    2. Go to the Domain Name Resolution page. In the row for the a.com domain name, click DNS Settings.

    3. Click Add Record. Enter the Record Type, Host, and Record Value from Step 1.

  3. Validate.

    1. Return to the EMAS Serverless console.

    2. Click Click to Verify for validation.

Method 2: File validation

To use file validation when you add a new accelerated domain name, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to the EMAS console, choose Serverless, and then click Enter.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Static Website Hosting > Settings > Add Domain. For Validation Method, select File Validation.

  3. Click verification.html to download the validation file.

  4. Upload the validation file to the root directory of your origin server, such as an ECS instance, an OSS bucket, or a CVM, COS, or EC2 instance.

    Note

The EMAS Serverless backend system accesses your origin server at http://a.com/verification.html to retrieve the validation file and verify that you uploaded it as required. Make sure the file is accessible.

  5. To complete the validation, click Click to Verify.

FAQ

You may encounter the following issues when you add a new accelerated domain name:

  • Q: Why is domain ownership verification required?

A: To ensure that a domain name is added only by its true owner. This prevents domain conflicts and security risks that can occur if one user adds a domain name that belongs to another user.

  • Q: I have multiple Alibaba Cloud accounts. Do I need to verify ownership for each new domain that I add to each account?

A: Yes, you do. Multiple accounts are treated as separate, independent users. Each account must verify ownership for any new domain.

  • Q: After I complete the DNS or file validation, can I delete the DNS record or file used for validation?

A: Yes, you can. The DNS record or file is used only to verify domain ownership when you add the domain. After the domain is verified, you can delete the record or file.

  • Q: What should I do if I cannot complete the DNS or file validation?

A: You can contact Technical Support.
