This topic describes important considerations for your original Tencent Mail account before migration.
The screenshots of the third-party mailbox are for reference only. The actual user interface may vary due to feature updates.
After you switch your DNS records to no longer point to Tencent Mail, Tencent restricts migration that uses a web logon password or a client password. To migrate emails after switching DNS records, use one of the following methods:
Contact Tencent in advance to confirm that you can migrate emails after you switch the DNS records.
In your Tencent Mail settings, add a domain alias. Switch the DNS records for the primary domain name to Alibaba Cloud, but ensure the DNS records for the domain alias still point to Tencent Mail. Then, use the domain alias account for the migration.
Before migration, replace the domain name in your Tencent Mail settings with a new one. This ensures the domain name for Alibaba Mail is different from the one for Tencent Mail. Switch the DNS records of the original domain name to Alibaba Cloud, and then start the migration.
If the Tencent Mail domain name is the same as the Alibaba Mail domain name, you must delete or replace the domain name in your Tencent Mail settings after the migration is complete and the DNS records are switched to Alibaba Cloud. This prevents mail delivery failures that can occur when sending and receiving emails between Tencent Mail and Alibaba Mail within the same domain.
Alias and domain name operations
To replace a domain name, you can add a new domain name as an account alias and then set the new domain name account as the primary account. If the original domain name is no longer needed, you can unregister it.

If secure logon is enabled:
You can use a client-specific password for the migration.
You can scan a QR code with WeChat to perform the migration. Employees can log on to their Alibaba Mail accounts and select the WeChat QR code method in the email migration settings. This method is available only for employee-initiated migrations.
