Product configuration guide

Background information

The platform supports multiple interactive terminals that serve as delivery apps. The required product manual and the materials provided by the platform differ for each terminal.

The following table lists the product materials provided for each interactive terminal.

Upload a product manual

1. Log on to the IoT Platform.

2. Go to the Human-Computer Interaction page.

3. Choose Basic Configuration > Product Manual.

4. Under Product Manual, click Upload to add the product manual that contains the network configuration QR code.

   The product manual must meet the following requirements:

   • The product manual must include the network configuration QR code.

   • The product manual must include an introduction to the main features of the product.

   • (Optional for Tmall Genie app) The procedure for network configuration and device attachment using Tmall Genie voice commands.

   • (Optional for Tmall Genie app) The procedure for network configuration and device attachment using the Tmall Genie app.

   • The manual must be a Portable Document Format (PDF) file no larger than 10 MB. The file name, excluding the extension, cannot exceed 20 characters.

   

5. (Optional) Configure the Genie sticker for the product.

   If you select the Tmall Genie app as the delivery app when you configure the interactive terminal, you must configure and use a Genie sticker for the device. For more information, see Genie sticker instructions.

Get product manual materials

Download the network configuration QR code

To improve the network configuration success rate, the platform provides a 2-in-1 QR code for both app download and network configuration. You can print this QR code on the device or its packaging. This allows consumers to download the app, configure the network, and attach the device by scanning a single QR code.

• Obtain the QR code for Tmall Genie app download and network configuration

  1. To the right of Upload Tmall Genie Manual, click Download Network Configuration QR Code.

  2. A 2-in-1 QR code is generated for the product, as shown in the following figure.

  3. Download the QR code.

     You can download the QR code as a large Portable Network Graphics (PNG) image or a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) vector graphic. You can also use the link below the QR code to generate it yourself. This ensures high definition for printing.

• Obtain the QR code for Cloud Intelligence app download and network configuration

  1. To the right of Upload Cloud Intelligence Manual, click Download Network Configuration QR Code.

  2. A 2-in-1 QR code is generated for the product, as shown in the following figure.

     If your product connects to the network using a Cellular (2G/3G/4G) connection, the QR code must contain a unique DeviceName for each device. To generate the 2-in-1 QR code image, enter the device's DeviceName in the input box and click Generate QR Code.

  3. Download the QR code.

     You can download the QR code as a large PNG image or an SVG vector graphic. You can also use the link below the QR code to generate it yourself. This ensures high definition for printing.

  Note

  When consumers use the Cloud Intelligence app to scan this 2-in-1 QR code for network configuration, the process differs for devices with different network connection methods.

  • Devices that require network configuration (such as Wi-Fi or Zigbee devices): After you scan the QR code, the interface for entering the SSID and password appears. After the network is configured, the device is attached and the device panel's main interface is displayed.

  • Devices that do not require network configuration (such as Ethernet, cellular, or Bluetooth devices): After you scan the QR code, the device is attached directly and the device panel's main interface is displayed.

The following content is an excerpt from the network configuration guide in the manual for a smart socket that uses the Tmall Genie app. Use it for reference.

Manual asset package

1. Click Get Template to the right of Upload Cloud Intelligence Manual.

2. Click the asset package for the manual materials in the desired language to open the preview page for the manual asset package.

3. Click in the upper-right corner to download the manual to your computer.

   After you download the file, you can use it directly for printing the device manual.
