Introduction to platform account types
The IoT Platform has introduced account types to better serve different customers by granting specific permissions to each type. This topic describes the account types, their evaluation criteria, and how to change your account type.
Account types
The platform offers two account types: Regular Developer and Certified Developer. The details are as follows:
Regular Developer:
Regular Developers have full development capabilities in the console. They can connect, configure, and produce IoT devices. This account type is suitable for users who want to test or mass-produce devices, or learn about the platform and its features.
Certified Developer:
Certified Developers have full development capabilities in the console. They can connect, configure, and produce IoT devices. They also receive additional resources. This account type is suitable for users with significant IoT development skills, a clear production plan for a specific number of devices, or ecosystem partners with a history of successful collaboration with the IoT Platform.

After the IoT Platform account types were introduced, existing users were designated as Regular Developers. To upgrade to a Certified Developer, see Account type upgrade process.
Account type evaluation criteria
Applications for the Certified Developer account type are manually evaluated based on the information that you provide in a questionnaire. The evaluation is based on the following criteria:
You must have an enterprise account. For more information about enterprise account verification, see Register an account (PC).
Your goals and requirements for using the platform.
The platform contains several production plans.
Your primary research and development (R&D) direction, field of expertise, and device types.
Sufficient development capabilities to develop IoT devices.
Account type upgrade process
If you have a Regular Developer account, you can apply to become a Certified Developer. If your application is approved, your account is upgraded to a Certified Developer account.
Log on to the IoT Platform.
Hover over Regular Developer in the upper-left corner of the console homepage. In the dialog box that appears, click Upgrade to Certified Developer.
In the dialog box, complete the questionnaire accurately and completely.

What help I expect from the platform
I want to obtain official chips. I also need the platform to provide device-side SDKs for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth devices, App SDKs, voice control capabilities, cloud resources, and ticket support.
After you fill out the form, click Submit. The platform will then review your application. If your application is approved, your account will be automatically upgraded to Certified Developer.
NoteThe platform reviews applications within three business days. If your application is not approved, your account remains a Regular Developer account.
