PrivateZone is a private Domain Name System (DNS) service for Alibaba Cloud's virtual private cloud (VPC) that lets you map private domain names to IP addresses within one or more VPCs.
Prerequisites
Before you read this topic, you should be familiar with the following concepts:
PrivateZone lets you use private domain names to manage Alibaba Cloud resources, such as ECS hostnames, SLB, and OSS, within a VPC. These private domain names are not accessible from outside the VPC. You can also connect your VPC to a traditional data center with a leased line or VPN. This connection allows resources in your traditional data center and your Alibaba Cloud VPC to access each other through private domain names.
System architecture
PrivateZone consists of a control layer and a resolution layer:
Control layer: The control layer provides services through the console and OpenAPI. It manages and stores data, such as DNS records, configurations, and logs. The control layer is located in the China (Zhangjiakou) region.
Resolution layer: The resolution layer provides services through clusters of DNS servers deployed in regions worldwide. It accepts DNS record data from the control layer and responds to DNS queries. The resolution layer is available in all Alibaba Cloud regions and zones.
