This topic describes common issues related to videos.

1. Why does a video not display after I add the universal video code?

Check for the following two possible causes:

  • The video link is unavailable. To verify this, copy the URL from the `src` attribute in the universal video code and open it in a browser. If the URL does not open, the link is unavailable.

  • Your website is configured with HTTPS, but the video link in the universal code uses HTTP. This mismatch prevents video playback. To fix this, change the URL in the `src` attribute from HTTP to HTTPS in the universal video code. Then, save and publish your website.

2. What should I do if an ApsaraVideo VOD upload fails with the error "The TemplateGroupId does not exist"?

Log on to the console of your Alibaba Cloud account. Click ApsaraVideo VOD > Global Settings > Transcoding Settings, and set the transcoding template group to the default group.

3. Reasons for ApsaraVideo VOD playback failure

  • ApsaraVideo VOD is not activated.

  • If the service is activated, check whether your free storage space and traffic are used up. You can view your usage when you upload a video. If you have run out of resources, purchase more. For more information, see Alibaba Cloud video configuration process.

  • If you have enabled ApsaraVideo VOD, verify the following.

    • Your Alibaba Cloud account must have a sufficient balance. Video playback is disabled for accounts with an overdue payment.

    • Video playback will fail unless you attach and parse an accelerated domain name in the ApsaraVideo VOD console.

    • Confirm that the sub-account is granted the permission to manage the ApsaraVideo VOD service. If an incorrect permission is granted, video playback will fail.

  • If you migrated your site, your ApsaraVideo VOD videos are not included in the migration. You must upload the videos again to the new site.
