What is Elastic Accelerated Computing Instances (EAIS)?

Updated at:

Elastic Accelerated Computing Instances (EAIS) is a high-performance, cost-effective, and scalable Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering from Alibaba Cloud. EAIS decouples CPU resources from GPU resources. It lets you attach GPU resources to ECS instances to create the GPU-accelerated instance types that you need for inference scenarios. This improves resource utilization and reduces costs.

Why choose EAIS

EAIS lets you easily build heterogeneous computing resources with the following benefits:

  • No need for on-premises data centers, hardware procurement, or configuration.

  • Deployment in minutes, which reduces your application launch time.

  • Quick access to globally deployed data centers and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) data centers.

  • Transparent, pay-as-you-go pricing. You can scale or release resources at any time based on your business needs.

  • A variety of instance types that combine any ECS instance with heterogeneous computing resources, such as GPU, NPU, and FPGA, to meet your diverse needs.

  • Access to other Alibaba Cloud services over a private network to create comprehensive industry solutions and reduce Internet traffic costs.

  • Multiple security solutions, such as virtual firewalls, access control, private network isolation, protection against virus attacks, and traffic monitoring.

  • A performance monitoring framework and a proactive O&M system.

  • Industry-standard APIs that improve ease of use and applicability.

For more information, see Benefits and Common scenarios.

Service architecture

EAIS includes the following main components:

  • All functional components of Elastic Computing Service (ECS). For more information, see Service architecture.

  • Heterogeneous computing resources: A full GPU or NPU, or a fraction (1/N) of a GPU or NPU.

The following figure shows the service architecture of EAIS. For more information about the components in the figure, see the relevant documentation.

Pricing

EAIS supports the pay-as-you-go billing method. To use EAIS, you can go to the Elastic Accelerated Computing Instances console to make a purchase. Fees are based on the prices displayed in the console.

Regions and zones

EAIS is currently available only in some regions. For more information, see Regions and Zones.

Other information

ECS instances that are attached to EAIS must follow the deployment recommendations for ECS. You can also use the related services that ECS supports.
