Alibaba Cloud Marketplace images include base OS images and pre-installed software environments such as .NET, PHP, Java, LAMP runtimes, control panels, and website building systems. Use these images to deploy runtime environments or applications on ECS instances without manual setup.
Alibaba Cloud Marketplace offers over 2,000 images from Alibaba Cloud and third-party providers. These images support runtime environments such as .NET, PHP, Java, LAMP, and Docker containers, and cover website building, application development, and visualization management.
How do I purchase an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image?
An image must be purchased with an ECS instance and shares the same lifecycle. You can purchase an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image in two ways:
Search for an image in Alibaba Cloud Marketplace and click Buy Now on the product page. You are redirected to the custom ECS purchase page.
On the custom ECS purchase page, select Marketplace Image and search for an image by keyword.
How are Alibaba Cloud Marketplace images billed?
An image must be purchased with an ECS instance and shares the same lifecycle and billing method.
ECS instances support subscription and pay-as-you-go billing. The billing method you select for the instance also applies to the image.
The image provider sets the pricing for Alibaba Cloud Marketplace images. Some images are 0 Yuan, while others are not 0 Yuan. Check the price displayed at the time of purchase.
How is a custom image billed if its base image is from Alibaba Cloud Marketplace?
If you create a custom image from an ECS instance that uses an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image, the custom image inherits the original Marketplace image as its base image.
When you use such a custom image to create an ECS instance, the image fee matches the original Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image.
If you share or copy such a custom image to another account or region, its price is inherited from the original Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image.
Are Alibaba Cloud Marketplace images secure?
Yes. Alibaba Cloud Marketplace images are published by Alibaba Cloud and experienced third-party providers. All images are built on official Alibaba Cloud operating systems with Security Center and must pass a strict security review before publication.
What should I do if I encounter a problem when I install or use an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image?
Check the service information on the image's product page in Alibaba Cloud Marketplace. Contact the image provider through Wangwang, phone, or email for support.
How can I use an API to identify an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image, or a custom or shared image derived from it?
Call the DescribeImages operation with the image ID. If the
ProductCodein the response is not empty, the image is an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image or derived from one.For example, if the

How can I use an API to create an ECS instance from an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image?
Find the image in Alibaba Cloud Marketplace and note the image ID for your region on the product page. Call the RunInstances operation with this image ID to create an ECS instance.
Do Alibaba Cloud Marketplace images support refunds? If so, how are the fees calculated?
Check the product page to determine if an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image supports refunds. See the image product description in Refund Rules. If a refund is supported, the image provider issues a refund based on your actual usage.
For a pay-as-you-go ECS instance created from an Alibaba Cloud Marketplace image, is the image still billed during downtime if economical mode is enabled?
Yes. Paid Alibaba Cloud Marketplace images do not support economical mode.
Do Red Hat and SUSE images support refunds?
No. ECS instances with Red Hat or SUSE images do not support refunds, as indicated on their Alibaba Cloud Marketplace product pages. To request a refund for the ECS instance, submit a ticket. The Red Hat and SUSE image fees are non-refundable. After the instance is refunded, the corresponding image cannot be used for other instances.
When an ECS instance is upgraded or downgraded, are the fees for Red Hat and SUSE images adjusted?
Yes. Commercial Red Hat and SUSE image prices vary by vCPU count. When you upgrade or downgrade the ECS instance, the image fee is adjusted accordingly, and the price difference is charged or refunded. For downgrade refund details, see Unsubscription rules.
