Switch disk billing method

If the current pay-as-you-go or subscription billing method for your disk no longer meets your needs, you can switch it.

Prerequisites

  • This operation applies only to disks. The billing method for elastic ephemeral disks and local disks can only be switched along with the instance to which they are attached. For more information, see Switch the billing method of an instance from subscription to pay-as-you-go and Switch the billing method of an instance from pay-as-you-go to subscription.

  • You can only switch the billing method between subscription and pay-as-you-go. This operation does not apply to other billing methods or plans, such as spot instances, savings plans, or storage capacity units.

  • Ensure that the instance is in the Running or Stopped state.

  • The disk must meet the following conditions:

    • The disk is in the In Use state.

    • The multi-attach feature is disabled for the disk. You cannot switch the billing method for a disk that has the multi-attach feature enabled. For more information, see Multi-attach.

    • The billing method of the disk has not been successfully switched within the last 5 minutes.

  • The billing method of a system disk can only be switched along with the instance to which it is attached. For more information, see Switch the billing method of an instance from subscription to pay-as-you-go and Switch the billing method of an instance from pay-as-you-go to subscription.

  • The procedure for switching the billing method of a data disk depends on the billing method of the attached instance.

    Pay-as-you-go

    The billing method must be switched along with the instance. For more information, see Switch the billing method of an instance from pay-as-you-go to subscription.

    Subscription

    1. Choose one of the following methods to switch the billing method of the disk.

      • To switch the billing method for multiple data disks on an instance, use the Instances page.

        1. Go to ECS console - Instances.

        2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region and resource group.地域

        3. Find the ECS instance and click its ID. On the instance details page, in the All Operations section, choose Upgrade Configuration.

        4. On the Upgrade Configuration page, in the Billing Method of Disks section, select the pay-as-you-go data disks that you want to switch.

          The billing method of the selected data disks changes to subscription when the upgrade order is completed.

      • To switch the billing method for a specific data disk, use the Disks page.

        1. Go to ECS console - Block Storage - Disks.

        2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region and resource group.地域

        3. Find the data disk, and in its Actions column, choose 更多 > Switch to Subscription.

        4. In the Billing Method of Disks section, view the disk that is selected by default.

    2. Read the upgrade notes, select ECS Service Terms, then click Confirm Order.

    3. Complete the payment and confirm that the billing method of the disk is switched to subscription.

      Important

      After the billing method of a disk is switched to subscription, the disk cannot be detached.

    Subscription to pay-as-you-go

    subscription (subscription disks can only be attached to subscription instances.)
    Note

    Switching a subscription data disk to pay-as-you-go using the real-time downgrade feature may generate a refund. The refund amount is the price difference between the new configuration and the remaining value of the previous configuration. For more information, see Rules for unsubscribing from instances with downgraded configurations.

    1. Choose one of the following methods to switch the billing method of the disk.

      • To switch the billing method for multiple data disks on an instance, use the Instances page.

        1. Go to ECS console - Instances.

        2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region and resource group.地域

        3. Find the ECS instance and click its ID. On the instance details page, in the All Operations section, choose Downgrade.

        4. Click the Billing Method of Disks tab and select the subscription data disks that you want to switch.

      • To switch the billing method for a specific data disk, use the Disks page.

        1. Go to ECS console - Block Storage - Disks.

        2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region and resource group.地域

        3. Find the data disk, and in its Actions column, choose 更多 > Switch to Pay-as-you-go.

        4. On the Billing Method of Disks tab, view the disk that is selected by default.

    1. Select ECS Service Terms, then click Downgrade.

      After the billing method of the disk is switched to pay-as-you-go, the disk is not automatically released when its instance is released. You can change this setting in the ECS console. For more information, see release a disk.
