Creating a dedicated block storage cluster grants you exclusive access to the storage resources within the cluster. This topic describes how to create a dedicated block storage cluster.

Prerequisites

To use a dedicated block storage cluster for the first time, you must submit a ticket to apply for the feature.

Background information

Note

Dedicated Block Storage Cluster is currently available in the following regions: China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Beijing), China (Zhangjiakou), China (Ulanqab), China (Shenzhen), China (Heyuan), Indonesia (Jakarta), Germany (Frankfurt), and China South 1 Finance.

When you create a dedicated block storage cluster, note the following:

  • When you log on to the Elastic Block Storage console for the first time, follow the on-screen instructions to create an EBS service-linked role. For more information, see Service-linked roles for EBS.

  • Dedicated block storage clusters are available in two performance types: Basic and Performance. Select a type based on your business requirements when you create a cluster.

  • Creating a dedicated block storage cluster incurs charges. For more information, see Billing.

Procedure

  1. Go to the dedicated block storage clusters page.

    1. Log on to the Elastic Block Storage console.

    2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Enterprise-level Features > Dedicated Block Storage Cluster.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region and resource group of the resource that you want to manage. Region

  3. Click Create Dedicated Block Storage Cluster.

  4. In the right-side panel, configure the following parameters.

The following table describes the parameters.

    Parameter

    Description

    Billing Method

Dedicated block storage clusters support only the Subscription billing method.

    Region and availability zone

Select the region and availability zone for the dedicated block storage cluster.

    Note

You cannot change the region or availability zone after the cluster is created. Plan the region and availability zone for your cloud resources in advance. For example, when you create a dedicated block storage cluster, set its region and availability zone to match those of your other resources, such as ECS instances.

    Cluster Capacity

Set the cluster capacity. The capacity range and adjustment increments are as follows:

    • Minimum capacity: 60 TiB (61,440 GiB)

    • Maximum capacity: 2,280 TiB (2,334,720 GiB)

    • Capacity adjustment increment: You can adjust the capacity only in increments of 12 TiB (12,288 GiB).

    Note

If the capacity of a dedicated block storage cluster is less than 576 TiB, the maximum throughput per TiB cannot exceed 52 MB/s. If the capacity of a dedicated block storage cluster is greater than 576 TiB, the maximum throughput per TiB cannot exceed 26 MB/s.

    Dedicated block storage cluster name

Enter a name for the cluster to help you identify and manage it.

    Cluster Performance Type

Select a performance type for the cluster. You can select Basic or Performance. The following list describes the types:

    • Basic: This cluster type can only create ESSD PL0 disks.

    • Performance: This cluster type can only create ESSD PL1 disks.

For more information about ESSDs, see ESSDs.

    Duration

Select the subscription duration for the cluster.

    Service-linked Role

This role grants the cluster access to other cloud services.

  5. Review the configuration and total cost, and then click Purchase Now.

After you complete the payment, the dedicated block storage cluster becomes available within 20 business days.

Related operations

After you create a dedicated block storage cluster, you can view its details, modify its attributes.

  • View cluster details: After the cluster is created, you can view its basic information, information about disks created in the cluster, and its monitoring data.

    • In the dedicated block storage cluster list, you can view information such as the status, availability zone, and capacity of your clusters. You can also click a cluster ID to go to the cluster details page and view its basic information.

    • If you have created disks in the cluster, you can find their information on the Disk Management tab of the cluster details page.

    • On the Cluster Monitoring tab of the cluster details page, you can view the cluster's capacity usage.

  • Modify cluster information: In the Actions column of the cluster, select More > Modify Name.
