Create and start a replication pair-consistent group

Updated at:

If you need to protect multiple cloud disks with disaster recovery, you can create a replication pair-consistent group. By adding the replication pairs for your cloud disks to this group, you can centrally manage their disaster recovery between a primary site and a secondary site. This topic describes how to create a replication pair-consistent group.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the EBS console.

  2. In the left navigation bar, select Enterprise-level Features > Consistent Replication.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region and resource group.地域

  4. Create a replication pair-consistent group.

    1. Click the Primary Site or Secondary Site tab, and then click Create Replication Pair-consistent Group.

    2. In the panel that appears on the right, configure the following parameters and click OK.

The following table describes the parameters.

      Parameter

      Description

      Group Name

Enter a custom name for the replication pair-consistent group.

      Production Region

The region of the primary site. This parameter is automatically set to the current region and cannot be changed.

      Primary site availability zone

Select the availability zone for the primary site.

      Disaster Recovery Region

Select the region for the secondary site.

      Disaster Recovery Zone

Select the availability zone for the secondary site.

      RPO (Minutes)

This parameter cannot be configured directly.

      Replication Time Control (RTC)

You can enable Replication Time Control (RTC) to guarantee a recovery point objective (RPO) of 10 minutes or less . You can modify this setting after the group is created.

  5. Add one or more replication pairs to the replication pair-consistent group.

The following limits apply when you add a replication pair to a replication pair-consistent group:

    • The replication pair and the replication pair-consistent group must be in the Created or Stopped state.

    • The replication pair must have the same replication direction as the group, meaning they must share the same primary region, primary availability zone, secondary region, and secondary availability zone.

    • A single replication pair-consistent group can contain up to 17 replication pairs.

    • After a replication pair is added to a replication pair-consistent group, you cannot independently start, stop, perform a failover, or perform reverse replication on the replication pair. These operations must be performed on the group.

    • RTC status limits:

      Group RTC status

      Pair RTC status

      Result

      RTC enabled

      RTC enabled

The replication pair can be added.

      RTC enabled

      RTC disabled

The system automatically enables RTC for the replication pair.

      Important

After the replication pair is removed from the group, its RTC status reverts to disabled.

      RTC disabled

      RTC enabled

The replication pair cannot be added. You must either enable RTC for the replication pair-consistent group or disable RTC for the replication pair to make their RTC statuses consistent.

      RTC disabled

      RTC disabled

The replication pair can be added.

    1. In the list of replication pair-consistent groups, find the group that you want to manage and click the group ID.

    2. On the group details page, click Add replication pair.

    3. In the Add Replication Pairs to the Replication Pair-consistent Group dialog box, select the replication pairs that you want to add and click OK.

  6. Start the replication pair-consistent group.

    1. In the list of replication pair-consistent groups, find the group that you want to start, and in the Actions column, click Start.

When you start the group, all replication pairs within the group are started.

    2. Select a startup method.

      • One-time data synchronization

Click Copy Now to start a one-time data replication. After the replication completes, the replication pair-consistent group enters the Stopped state. You can click Copy Now again to perform another one-time data replication if needed.

You can click Copy Now only when the replication pair-consistent group is in the Created, One-time Syncing, or Stopped state.
      • Automatic data synchronization

Click OK to enable automatic data replication. Data is replicated every 15 minutes.

You can click OK only when the replication pair-consistent group is in the Created, Syncing, Normal, or Stopped state.

When the group status changes to Normal, it indicates that async replication is active and the initial data replication is complete. The system then automatically replicates data from the primary site to the secondary site every 15 minutes.

Enable or disable RTC

  1. Log on to the Elastic Block Storage (EBS) console. In the upper-left corner of the page, select the region where your target group is located.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Enterprise-level Features > Replication Pair-consistent Group.

  3. Find the target replication pair-consistent group and modify the RTC configuration in the Replication Time Control (RTC) column.
