Create an HPC-optimized instance

Procedure

1. Go to the ECS instance buy page.

2. Select the required configurations, such as the billing method, instance type, and image.

   This section describes the key configurations for creating an HPC-optimized instance. For other configurations, see Create a custom instance.

   Parameter	Description
   Billing Method	HPC-optimized instances support only the pay-as-you-go billing method. You can also use a savings plan to offset pay-as-you-go bills. For more information about billing methods, see Billing overview.
   Region	A region is the geographical area where a data center is located. Selecting a region closer to you reduces network latency. You cannot change the region after you create an instance. For more information, see Regions and zones.
   Network and Zone	We recommend using a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). VPCs provide logical isolation for enhanced security and support features such as Elastic IP Addresses (EIPs), Elastic Network Interfaces (ENIs), and IPv6. A zone is a physical location within a region that has independent power and networking. Instances in the same zone have lower network latency, which provides faster access.
   Instance	On the All specifications tab, in the High-performance Computing column, click All Categories and select High-performance Computing-optimized. For more information, see instance families. Note Available instance types vary based on factors such as the region. To view the availability of instance types, go to Available regions for ECS instance types.
   Images	An image provides the information required to run an instance. Alibaba Cloud offers various image sources. The page displays the supported images.

3. Configure settings for Block Storage, Bandwidths & Security Groups, and Management Settings.

4. Before you create the instance, review the configuration summary on the right side of the page and adjust options such as usage duration as needed.

5. Read and accept the terms of service, such as the Alibaba Cloud ECS Terms of Service. Follow the on-screen instructions, and then click Confirm Order.

   Instance creation typically takes 3 to 5 minutes. Go to the Instances page in the ECS console to view the instance status. When the status changes to Running, your instance is ready to use.
