Authorized pending orders apply to specific out-of-stock instance types that are expected to be restocked soon. You can authorize the system to automatically purchase and create the instance if it becomes available. You are not charged if the order expires before being fulfilled.
Background information
An authorized pending order is a short-term solution for securing a few prepaid resources. The order is valid for one hour and expires automatically if unfulfilled. If you need more resources or a longer validity period, consider using a resource reservation to guarantee availability.
Authorized pending orders do not incur extra service fees. You are charged for the resource only when the order is fulfilled. Ensure your Alibaba Cloud account has a sufficient balance to cover the cost, or the order will fail.
Procedure
When an instance purchase fails due to insufficient inventory, the console may offer an option to create an authorized pending order if a restock is expected soon. This increases your chance of a successful purchase.
-
Create an ECS instance. For more information, see Create a custom instance.
If the purchase fails due to insufficient inventory, an order failure pop-up window appears. You can click Create Authorized Pending Order to place a backorder for the resource. The order is valid for one hour and is typically fulfilled within 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can click the Recommended Configurations link to choose a different instance type, region, or availability zone, or submit a stock notification request.
-
Click Create Authorized Pending Order.
-
In the Success dialog box, click Cancel.
After the pending order is fulfilled, the system automatically completes the payment and creates the instance.
NoteAn authorized pending order is valid for one hour and expires automatically. If the specified instance type remains unavailable, select another ECS instance type that meets your needs. Alternatively, use a resource reservation to lock in resources, which may involve a longer wait.
