Memory-optimized instance family r9i

  • Introduction: This instance family is built on the Alibaba Cloud new-generation CIPU architecture and is powered by Intel® Xeon® 6 processors with P-cores. It delivers stable computing power, an enhanced I/O engine, and chip-level security hardening.

  • Use cases: Data analytics and mining, Hadoop and Spark clusters, other memory-intensive enterprise applications, distributed in-memory caches such as Redis, and websites and application servers.

  • Compute:

    • The vCPU-to-memory ratio is 1:8.

    • Processor: Intel® Xeon® Granite Rapids processors with a base frequency of 3.2 GHz, an all-core turbo frequency of 3.6 GHz, and a maximum single-core turbo frequency of 3.9 GHz.

      Note

This instance may show different frequencies in the operating system. The maximum single-core turbo frequency of 3.9 GHz represents burst performance. This burst performance depends on the overall CPU load on the physical host and is not guaranteed by a service-level agreement (SLA).

    • For information about OS compatibility, see OS compatibility for Intel instance types.

  • Storage:

    • This instance family consists of I/O-optimized instances.

    • These instances support the NVMe protocol. For more information, see Overview of the NVMe protocol.

    • Supported cloud disk types: ESSDs, ESSD AutoPL disks, and Regional ESSDs. For more information about cloud disks, see Block Storage overview.

    • For small instance types, disk IOPS and disk bandwidth are burstable. The storage I/O performance of an instance corresponds to its instance type. A larger instance type provides higher storage I/O performance. For more information, see Storage I/O performance.

  • Network:

    • These instances support IPv4 and IPv6. For information about IPv6 communication, see IPv6 communication.

    • These instances support eRDMA. For information about how to use eRDMA, see Enable on enterprise-level instance.

    • These instances support jumbo frames. For more information, see Jumbo frames.

    • The network performance of an instance corresponds to its instance type. A larger instance type provides higher network performance.

  • Security: These instances support the vTPM feature. For more information, see Overview of trusted computing.

    • High packet-per-second (PPS) workloads, such as video bullet comments and telecom service forwarding.

    • High-performance databases and in-memory databases.

    • Data analytics and mining, and distributed in-memory caches.

    • Hadoop and Spark clusters, and other enterprise applications with high memory requirements.

  • Compute:

    • The processor-to-memory ratio is approximately 1:8.

    • Processor: Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8269CY (Cascade Lake) with a base frequency of 2.5 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.2 GHz, ensuring stable compute performance.

    • Hyper-Threading is supported and enabled by default. For more information, see Change CPU options.

    Note

This instance family is incompatible with FreeBSD 13.2 and earlier versions. Use FreeBSD 13.3 or a later version.

  • Storage:

  • Network:

R5 memory-optimized instance family

  • Scenarios:

    • Workloads that require a high packet forwarding rate (pps), such as live video commenting and telecom service forwarding.

    • High-performance databases and in-memory databases.

    • Data analytics and mining, and distributed in-memory cache.

    • Hadoop and Spark clusters, and other memory-intensive enterprise applications.

  • Compute:

    • vCPU-to-memory ratio of 1:8.

    • Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8163 (Skylake) or Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8269CY (Cascade Lake) processors provide consistent computing performance.

      Note

Instances in this instance family may be deployed on different server platforms. If your workloads require all instances to be deployed on the same server platform, use r6, r6e, or r7 instances.

  • Storage:

  • Network:

    • Supports IPv4 and IPv6. For more information about IPv6, see IPv6 communication.

    • Ultra-high packet forwarding rate (pps).

    • The network performance of an instance scales with its instance type.

r5 includes the following instance types and specifications:

vCPUs

Memory (GiB)

Network bandwidth (Gbit/s)

se1ne: Memory-optimized, network-enhanced instance family

  • Use cases:

    • High-performance workloads with a high packet forwarding rate (pps), such as video livestreaming with on-screen comments and telecom service forwarding

    • High-performance databases and in-memory databases

    • Data analytics and mining, and distributed memory caches

    • Hadoop and Spark clusters, and other enterprise applications with high memory requirements

  • Compute:

    • The vCPU-to-memory ratio is 1:8.

    • Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel® Xeon® E5-2682 v4 (Broadwell), Platinum 8163 (Skylake), or 8269CY (Cascade Lake) processors for stable computing performance.

      Note

se1ne instances may be deployed on different server platforms. If your workloads require all instances to run on the same server platform, use r6, r6e, or r7.

  • Storage:

    • All se1ne instances are I/O optimized instances.

    • Supported cloud disk types: standard SSDs and ultra disks. For more information, see block storage overview.

  • Network:

    • Supports IPv4 and IPv6. For information about IPv6 communication, see IPv6 communication.

    • Offers an ultra-high packet forwarding rate (pps).

    • Network performance scales with the instance type.

The following table lists the se1ne instance types and their specifications.
