You can associate an elastic IP address (EIP) with an ECS instance in a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) to enable public network access. If you are using an EIP, you can adjust its maximum bandwidth and metering method. This feature is available for both subscription and pay-as-you-go instances.
Modify a pay-as-you-go EIP
You can upgrade or downgrade pay-as-you-go EIP instances. This lets you modify the peak bandwidth and Internet billing method of an EIP instance.
Before you upgrade or downgrade an EIP, note the following:

Log on to the .
In the top navigation bar, select the region where the EIP is created.
On the Elastic IP Addresses page, find the target EIP, and then in the Bandwidth column, click Modify Configuration.
On the EIP | Upgrade/Downgrade page, set the following parameters and click Buy Now.
Peak Bandwidth: Specify a new peak bandwidth. You can upgrade or downgrade the bandwidth, but you cannot set it to 0 Mbps.
Traffic: Select the Internet billing method. You can choose Pay-by-traffic or Pay-by-bandwidth.
Modify a subscription EIP
Upgrade the bandwidth
Increase the maximum bandwidth of a subscription EIP. The change takes effect immediately after payment.
Only bandwidth upgrades are supported for subscription EIPs. To downgrade the bandwidth, use one of the following methods:
Convert the subscription EIP to a pay-as-you-go EIP, then modify the bandwidth of the pay-as-you-go EIP.
Renew the EIP with a specification change. The new bandwidth takes effect in the next subscription period.
Go to the Elastic IP Addresses console. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the EIP is deployed.
Find the target EIP. In the Bandwidth column, click Modify Configuration.
Set a new bandwidth value, click Buy Now, and complete the payment.
Billing impact: You pay the price difference for the remaining duration of the current billing cycle.
Temporary upgrade
Subscription EIPs support temporary upgrades, allowing you to temporarily increase the bandwidth of an EIP for a specified period.

When an EIP reaches the specified restoration time, its bandwidth automatically reverts to the maximum bandwidth that was set before the upgrade. This process does not interrupt your services. However, if your service traffic exceeds the original maximum bandwidth, rate limiting may be triggered and cause traffic to be dropped. Plan the expiration time of the temporary upgrade to ensure that the maximum bandwidth meets your service requirements. |

Go to the EIP console. In the top navigation bar, select the EIP's region.

In the Actions column of the target EIP, choose
> Instance Upgrade/Downgrade > Temporary Upgrade. Set Bandwidth and Restoration Time, click Buy Now, and then complete the payment.
Renew with a specification change
Change the maximum bandwidth of a subscription EIP at renewal time. The new bandwidth takes effect in the next subscription period, not immediately.
If you have unpaid orders for the EIP, pay for or cancel them before you renew with a specification change.
Go to the Elastic IP Addresses console. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the EIP is deployed.
Find the target EIP. In the Actions column, choose
> Renewal and Bills > Renew/Update Configurations.Set Duration and Bandwidth, click Buy Now, and complete the payment.
Billing impact: You are charged based on the new bandwidth and subscription period.
Cancel a pending renewal order
Cancel a pending renewal order with a specification change that has not yet taken effect.
This operation cannot be undone. Only pending orders can be canceled. Orders that have already taken effect cannot be canceled.
Go to the Elastic IP Addresses console. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the EIP is deployed.
Find the target EIP. In the Actions column, choose
> Change Specification > Cancel Pending Order.
Billing impact: After you cancel the order, you receive a refund. For details about refund rules, see .
