A quota is the maximum number of cloud resources or operations allowed for an Alibaba Cloud account. In Quota Center, you can view your ECS quotas and usage, request quota increases based on your business needs, and create quota alerts. This topic explains how to manage your ECS-related quotas.
Quota allocation
The system dynamically adjusts your quotas based on your actual usage. Maintaining a large number of instances over time does not, by itself, require a quota increase. Only request an increase if you anticipate a significant surge in usage.
ECS-related quotas
When you manage ECS-related quotas in Quota Center, focus on quotas for the following resource types:
-
General quotas: These quotas limit the quantity of cloud resources, such as security groups, in your account.
-
ECS Quotas by Instance Type: The maximum number of vCPUs, GPU cards, or vGPU instances of a specific ECS instance family that an Alibaba Cloud account can have in a specific region for a specific billing method.
-
Elastic Compute Service: Quotas for resources such as images and security groups.
-
Block Storage: Quotas for different types of cloud disks for an Alibaba Cloud account in a specific region and zone.
-
-
API rate limit: An API rate limit defines the maximum frequency of OpenAPI calls. For example, the rate limit for the
RunInstancesAPI operation is100/60(s).-
