Multi-terminal lets you connect to multiple Linux ECS instances and run commands on them simultaneously. This feature improves efficiency for batch O&M tasks, such as installing patches and polling processes.

Limitations

  • This feature is available only for Linux instances.

  • You can connect to a maximum of 16 ECS instances in a single Multi-terminal session.

  • This feature is available only in Workbench 1.0. How do I tell if my Workbench version is 1.0?

Create a Multi-terminal session

Follow these steps to connect to multiple ECS instances and run commands in batches.

  1. In the top navigation bar, choose Feature > Multi-terminal.

  2. In the Multi-terminal dialog box, click Create Terminal.

  3. In the Instance Login dialog box, select the instance connection information and click OK.

    Important

Multi-terminal supports up to 16 concurrent ECS instance connections.

  4. Optional: Click Create Terminal again to create more terminal connections.

  5. In a connected instance window, enter the command to run.

Manage Multi-terminal

Manage Multi-terminal windows

During a batch operation, you may need to temporarily exclude an instance (Block) or disconnect an unwanted connection (Remove). Follow these steps.

  1. In the upper-right corner of a connected instance window, click Manage.

    终端管理

  2. In the Multi-terminal dialog box, find the terminal row and select an action in the Actions column.

    • Block: Disables the connected instance window. After blocking, commands you enter will not run in that instance window.

You can also click the 禁用 icon in the upper-right corner of the current window to block or unblock it.

    • Remove: Removes the connected instance window. This action also disconnects the instance.

You can also click the 移除 icon in the upper-right corner of the current window to disconnect the instance connection.

    • Locate: Navigates to the target instance window.

Set window layout

After connecting to instances, you can adjust the window layout or manage each instance window individually.

  1. In the upper-right corner of a connected instance window, click Set Window Layout.

    窗口设置

  2. Set the layout to display 1, 2, 4, 9, or 16 windows as needed.

You can identify the Workbench version by its interface. Workbench 2.0 shows the Workbench icon image in the upper-left corner, while Workbench 1.0 displays the text WORKBENCH. The left navigation pane is also different.
