Rewrite URL

If the resource path on your origin server changes but you want to keep the URL that clients access unchanged, you can use URL rewrite rules. Configure these rules on Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) points of presence (POPs). The rules automatically modify the path and query string (request parameters) of a URL during the origin fetch stage. ESA then sends the rewritten URL to your origin server to retrieve the resource. This feature enables smooth migration and integration without changes to frontend links or origin server configurations.

Modify inbound request headers

You can configure rules to modify, add, or delete specific request headers from clients or other services. This lets you control the content of requests. For example, you can add headers such as Accept-Encoding and Accept-Language to customize the visitor experience and gain insights into user behavior.

Modify outgoing request headers

An HTTP request header is a component of an HTTP request message that contains parameters for a server. You can configure rules for origin HTTP request headers to pass specific parameters to your origin server. Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) lets you add, modify, and delete these rules to meet various business requirements.

Modify inbound response headers

You can use transform rules to modify, delete, or add response headers from an origin server, such as Cache-Control and Expires. By controlling these headers, you can optimize your cache policy, enhance security, and customize the user experience.

Modify outgoing response headers

The outgoing response header from an Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) point of presence (POP) is part of the HTTP response message header. It carries specific response parameters and passes them to the client. You can configure the outgoing response headers of ESA POPs to control the response headers when resources are returned. ESA lets you add, modify, and delete outgoing response header rules to meet various business needs.

Managed transforms

The managed transforms feature of Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) automatically adds Headers to origin requests to include information such as the client's originating IP address, geolocation, and TLS fingerprint. It also adds standard security Headers to client responses. This simplifies the configuration of common request and security Headers.
