When enabled, development mode temporarily bypasses the caching components of Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) and forwards all static resource requests directly to your origin server, so you can verify content changes in real time.

When development mode is off, ESA serves static resources from cached content at the nearest point of presence (POP), based on your cache rules.

When development mode is on, static resource requests bypass the caching component at ESA POPs and go directly to your origin server. This lets you compare content served from the origin with content served from the cache.
Enable development mode

In the ESA console, navigate to Websites. In the Website column, click the name of your target website.
