Set up rules

Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) lets you create a variety of rules to tailor your domain configurations.

Rule types

ESA provides the following types of rules:

HTTPS rules

You can configure SSL/TLS rules to set encryption policies for requests with different hostnames. By enforcing HTTPS redirection, enabling random encryption, and configuring HSTS features, you ensure that the browser accesses HTTP links through encrypted TLS channels and enforces the use of HTTPS connections, thereby enhancing security.

Transform rules

Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) checks parameters contained in user requests based on the rules you created to rewrite URLs, modify request or response headers, and enable managed transform rules for matched user requests.

Redirect rules

If the storage path of a resource on your origin server changes, you can configure redirect rules on Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) nodes to redirect the original request URL to the new destination URL. This reduces origin requests and improves client access performance.

Cache rules

Cache rules identify specific parameters in user requests to provide precise control over which resources are cached or bypassed, the cache duration, and the cache location. You can also set specific cache policies for these resources.

Network optimization rules

Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) provides features such as network access and origin fetch optimization, smart routing, WebSocket and gRPC connections, and maximum upload size settings to improve cross-region network performance and user experience.

Content optimization rules

Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) allows you to configure fine-grained rules. You can create content optimization rules that apply only to matched incoming requests. This enables precise, tailored configurations for your website and thereby improves your website performance and access experience.

Origin rules

Origin rules allow you to specify different origin hosts, origin ports, origin protocols, Server Name Indication (SNI), Domain Name System (DNS) records, and byte-range segments for user requests with different features.
