Use a game controller
This topic describes how to use a game controller with a cloud computer. It covers how administrators can configure peripheral policies, how end users can connect and use a controller, and how to troubleshoot controller issues.
Background information
Environment requirements
To use a game controller with a cloud computer, ensure that your environment meets all the following requirements:
Cloud computer image version:
2.2.13-R-20240829.224040or later.Driver: If you use an Xbox 360 controller, you must install the Xbox 360 controller driver.
Client version:
Windows client: V7.5 or later.
macOS client: V7.5 or later.
Android client: V7.4 or later.
Wuying Box: V7.5.2 or later.
Supported controller types
Protocol types: PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox protocols are supported.
NoteBecause Xbox controllers rely on the Xbox driver, only the Windows client supports Xbox-protocol controllers.
For third-party controllers from other brands, the system identifies the protocol type by checking if the controller name contains keywords such as
Xbox,PS,Switch, ordualsense. If the name does not contain these keywords, the Windows client defaults to Xbox controller support, and the macOS client defaults to Switch controller support.
Supported connection methods include Bluetooth, USB, and 2.4G. Specific methods vary by controller model.
Button layout support: Only the Xbox 360 button layout is supported.
Multiple controllers: Not supported.

The following table lists controller models that have passed our compatibility tests. We recommend using these controllers for the best experience.
Legend:
The icon indicates that the compatibility test passed.
The icon indicates that the compatibility test failed. Do not use this controller.
A missing icon indicates that no compatibility test has been performed. This controller is not recommended.
In the following list, compatibility tests for the Android client cover only cloud gaming. Tests for other clients cover both cloud computers and cloud gaming.

Get peripheral information
For USB peripherals, you need the Vendor Identifier (VID) and Product Identifier (PID) to configure peripheral policies. The VID and PID are hexadecimal strings, such as 0xa12c. The 0x prefix can typically be omitted. You can find the VID and PID of a connected USB peripheral in several ways.
Multiple factors affect the availability of peripherals in a cloud computer. These factors include the type and version of the Alibaba Cloud Workspace terminal and client, the cloud computer image, the local device that runs the client, and the brand and model of the peripheral. You can check the compatibility of a specific peripheral with cloud computers on the Peripheral Compatibility Query page. The data on this page comes from laboratory tests and is for reference only. Actual results may vary.
Workspace terminal
Open and log on to the Alibaba Cloud Workspace client.
In the upper-right corner of the client, click the icon and select Settings.
In the left navigation pane of the Settings window, click Peripherals. In the Local USB Peripherals panel, you can view the VID and PID of your USB peripheral.
Manually on your computer
You can find the VID and PID of a peripheral in your computer's device management information.
Windows
From the Start menu, search for and open Device Manager.
In the Device Manager window, expand and double-click the target USB device.
Go to the Details tab. From the Property drop-down list, select Hardware Ids. The VID and PID are displayed in the Value text box below.
macOS
From the Apple menu bar, choose . In the pop-up window, click More Info.
At the bottom of the About panel, click System Report.
In the left navigation pane of the new window, select Hardware > USB. Select the target USB device on the right to view its VID and PID in the details section below.
Using a third-party tool
You can use the USB Device Tree Viewer tool to view peripheral information. This tool is available for Windows only.
Download the tool from https://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbtreeview_e.html#download.
Unzip the downloaded package and double-click
UsbTreeView.exeto run it.In the navigation tree on the left, select the target USB device. You can find the VID and PID in the Device ID section of the right-side panel.
Configure peripheral policies
Peripheral control policies are part of cloud computer policies, which administrators must create and maintain in the console.
Game controllers work with cloud computers by default and require no configuration. If issues occur, an administrator can resolve them by configuring custom peripheral rules in the console.
The following procedure uses the Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) console for enterprises as an example. For the specific procedure for the business edition, see Manage policies.

Configure custom peripheral rules
To prevent end users from configuring incorrectly on the client, administrators can create custom peripheral rules in the cloud computer policy. These rules have higher priority than the custom configurations specified by end users on the client. End user: Connect a game controller
Some game controllers require special steps to connect to certain Wuying terminals. Follow the steps below.

A+Logobuttons to power on the controller, switch to Android mode, and enable Bluetooth pairing. The yellow light flashes.On the Wuying Box, search for and connect to the Bluetooth device.
USB connection
Connect the USB cable.
When the center yellow light turns on, the controller is in Android mode.
macOS client
Press the Y + HOME buttons to switch to Switch mode. Then, connect to your Mac computer using Bluetooth.
Sony PS5/PS4

Make sure the game controller is fully charged.
Press and hold the Create button (①) and the
PSbutton (②) at the same time. The controller enters Bluetooth pairing mode when the light bar (③) starts to flash.
On the Wuying Box, search for and connect to the Bluetooth device.

Connect the USB cable.

Switch to Switch mode and connect to your Mac computer using Bluetooth.

On the back of the controller, switch the mode to USB, which is the leftmost option.
Connect the USB cable.
Connect to the cloud computer. The first time you connect, a dialog box appears. Select Connect Now.
macOS client
Make sure the game controller is fully charged.
On the back of the controller, switch to NS mode. Press and hold the small Home button at the bottom front of the controller to enable Bluetooth pairing mode.
On your Mac computer, search for and connect to the Bluetooth device.

If the button layout for A, B, X, and Y feels reversed, go to Settings > General > Diagnostic Tool > Start Detection > Game Controller. Select your game controller and switch it to the third mode.
USB connection
On the back of the controller, switch the mode to USB, which is the leftmost option.
Connect the USB cable.
Connect to the cloud computer. The first time you connect, a dialog box appears. Select Connect Now.
macOS client
Switch to NS mode and connect to your Mac computer using Bluetooth.

On the back of the controller, switch the mode to USB, which is the leftmost option.
Connect the USB cable.
Connect to the cloud computer. The first time you connect, a dialog box appears. Select Connect Now.
When you connect a peripheral for the first time, a connection configuration window appears in the bottom-right corner of the cloud computer desktop. Select the device type, set automatic connection, and choose whether to save the current configuration.
Game controller troubleshooting
If you have issues with your game controller, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve them.
