This topic describes how to manage custom images.

Share an image

Note

You can share a custom image with other Alibaba Cloud accounts. The recipients can then use your shared custom image to quickly create ENS instances with the same environment.

  • Before you share a custom image, ensure you remove all sensitive data and files.

  • To share an image with another Alibaba Cloud account, you need the recipient's account ID.

To find the account ID, ask the recipient to hover over their profile picture in the upper-right corner of the console. In the user information box that appears, if the account is labeled as a Main Account, the ID displayed is their account ID.

  1. Log on to the ENS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources and Images > Images.

  3. On the Custom image tab, find the custom image that you want to share and click Manage Share in the Actions column.

  4. In the Manage Share dialog box, enter the recipient's account ID and click Save.

Unshare an image

Note

Unsharing a custom image affects the recipient in the following ways:

  • They can no longer find the image in the ENS console or by using the ENS API.

  • They can no longer use the image to create ENS instances or replace system disks.

  1. On the Custom image tab, find the custom image that you want to unshare and click Manage Share in the Actions column.

  2. In the Manage Share dialog box, find the account ID that you want to remove and click Cancel.

Export an image

You can export an image file from the ENS console to an OSS bucket and then download it to your computer for local analysis or backup.

Before you export an image, you must create an OSS bucket in the China (Beijing) region. For more information, see Create buckets.

  1. On the Custom image tab, find the target image and click Export in the Actions column.

If this is your first time exporting an image, you must use your Alibaba Cloud account to go to the Resource Access Management (RAM) console and grant ENS permissions to access OSS resources. ENS obtains these permissions by assuming the AliyunENSImageExportDefaultRole role. If the permissions are already granted, this step is automatically skipped.

    1. In the Cloud Resource Access Authorization dialog box, click Authorize.

    2. Verify that the AliyunENSImageImportDefaultRole and AliyunENSImageExportDefaultRole roles are displayed, and then click Confirm Authorization Policy.

  2. In the Export Image dialog box, select an OSS Bucket Address and click Export.

Delete an image

Note
  • To avoid service interruptions, you can delete only custom images that are not used by any running instances.

  • ENS supports a maximum of 10 custom images. If you reach this limit, delete any custom images that you no longer need.

  • When you delete a custom image, its backups on all edge nodes are also deleted. This action cannot be undone. Proceed with caution.

  1. On the Custom image tab, find the image that you want to delete and click Delete in the Actions column.

  2. Click OK to complete the deletion.
