This topic describes the Collaborative Storage NAS service for Edge Node Service (ENS).
Limits
Number of file systems: Each Alibaba Cloud account can create a maximum of five NAS file systems in the same edge zone.
Number of mount targets: You can add a maximum of one mount target to each file system.
You can mount a Collaborative Storage NAS file system only on compute instances that are in the same VPC as the mount target.
Only the NFS v3 and NFS v4.0 protocols are supported.
What is Collaborative Storage NAS
Collaborative Storage NAS is a file storage service provided by ENS for ENS instances. It is a distributed file system that features shared access, scalability, high reliability, and high performance.
Product overview
Collaborative Storage NAS provides shared access while ensuring data consistency and exclusive locks. Multiple ENS instances can access a NAS file system at the same time. The storage capacity automatically scales up or down as you add or delete files. This provides a common data source for workloads and applications that run on multiple instances or servers.
Collaborative Storage NAS offers two storage classes: Capacity and Extreme. Select the appropriate storage class based on your scenario.
Capacity
The Capacity NAS file system is used to store frequently accessed hot data. It is suitable for general-purpose file sharing tasks, such as Linux or Windows enterprise applications, web content management, data disaster recovery, and log storage.
Extreme
The Extreme NAS file system is a high-performance shared file storage service built on all-flash memory. It is suitable for latency-sensitive enterprise applications, high-performance web services, game services, and databases.
Benefits
Collaborative Storage NAS provides the following benefits in terms of cost, security, and data reliability:
Simple: Create a file system with one click. No deployment or maintenance is required.
Shared: A Collaborative Storage NAS file system can be mounted on multiple compute instances at the same time for shared access. This saves significant costs on data copying and synchronization. After a file is modified, the changes are immediately visible to all users, which allows for real-time content updates.
On-demand: With a Collaborative Storage NAS file system, you pay only for the storage space you use. You do not need to provision storage in advance or pay a minimum fee.
Secure: Collaborative Storage NAS uses VPC-based network isolation to ensure secure data access. This protects your data from theft or tampering.
Highly reliable: Collaborative Storage NAS uses a triplicate storage solution. Three copies of your data are stored on different devices. This provides data reliability of at least 99.9999%.
Billing
Collaborative Storage NAS uses the pay-as-you-go billing method. You are charged hourly for your actual resource usage. With this method, you can use the service first and pay for it later.
Formula: Cost = Actual resource usage × Hourly unit price of the resource.
Attribute | Description |
Billing rule | Resources are billed based on actual usage. A bill is generated at the end of each billing cycle, and the fee is deducted from your account. |
Billing cycle | You are billed on an hourly basis. Fees are deducted in real time. Bills are typically generated after the current billing cycle ends. The actual billing time is subject to the system. |
