Manage event streams

Event streams let you extract, transform, analyze, and load events from a source to an event target in real time, making it easy to process streaming data. This topic explains how to create, view, edit, and delete event streams in the EventBridge console.

Prerequisites

Activate EventBridge and grant the required permissions.

Create an event stream

  1. Log on to the EventBridge console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Event Streams.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Event Streams page, click Create Event Stream.

  5. On the Create Event Stream page, complete the following steps.

    • Task creation

      1. In the Source step, select a Data Provider, configure its resources, and then click Next Step.

      2. In the Filtering step, enter an event pattern in the Event Pattern Content code editor, and then click Next Step.

      3. In the Transformation step, configure the event transformation rules, and then click Next Step. For more information, see Use Function Compute to cleanse message data.

      4. In the Sink step, configure the event target.

      5. Return to the Event Streams page, find the event stream you created, and in the Actions column, click Enable.

        After you enable the event stream, the stream may take 30 to 60 seconds to start. You can monitor the startup progress in the Status column on the Event Streams page.

    • Task properties

      Configure the retry policy and dead-letter queue for the event stream. For more information, see Retry policies and dead-letter queues.

Enable or disable an event stream

Warning

Disabling an event stream may interrupt your services.

  1. Log on to the EventBridge console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Event Streams.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Event Streams page, find the target event stream, and in the Actions column, click Enable or Pause.

  5. In the Tips dialog box, read the message and click Confirm.

Edit an event stream

  1. Log on to the EventBridge console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Event Streams.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Event Streams page, find the target event stream and click Edit in the Actions column on the right.

  5. On the Edit Event Stream page, modify the basic information, source, event pattern, or event target, and then click Save.

Delete an event stream

Warning

Once an event stream is deleted, its data cannot be recovered.

  1. Log on to the EventBridge console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Event Streams.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Event Streams page, find the target event stream, and click Delete in the Actions column.

  5. In the Tips dialog box, read the message and click Confirm.
