The one-stop cloud connectivity service matches you with certified suppliers experienced with Alibaba Cloud Express Connect circuits. A dedicated service manager assists you throughout the process. Note that Alibaba Cloud does not deliver any physical circuit resources. You sign a contract directly with the supplier, who is responsible for delivering the circuit resources. Alibaba Cloud provides coordination and support to help you plan the cloud connection, accelerate deployment, and improve response times.
Service process
The following table describes the service process.
|
Step |
Stage |
Owner |
Description |
|
1 |
Requirement Submission |
Customer |
You submit your requirements, such as the data center location and required bandwidth. After you submit the application, an Alibaba Cloud service manager will contact you. |
|
2 |
Requirement Analysis |
Supplier |
After your application is confirmed, the service manager adds you to a dedicated service group to connect you with a supplier. The supplier then performs an initial requirement analysis. |
|
3 |
Resource Survey |
Supplier |
After confirming the requirements, the supplier conducts a site survey of your data center. This includes checking equipment specifications such as optical modules and cables, planning the physical cabling, and defining security measures. |
|
4 |
Contract Signing |
Customer and supplier |
After the survey is complete, you and the supplier confirm the details and sign a contract. |
|
5 |
Resource Delivery |
Supplier |
After the contract is signed, the ISP begins the on-site installation. |
|
6 |
Completion Report |
Supplier |
After the installation is finished, the supplier submits a completion report, and you can begin acceptance. |
|
7 |
Acceptance Completed |
Customer |
After you complete the acceptance, the service process ends. |
Submit an application
Submit an application with the location of your on-premises data center and your intended access point. The supplier uses this information to prepare a quote and plan the resource survey. After you submit the application, an Alibaba Cloud service manager contacts you.
Go to the One-stop Cloud Connectivity Service page in the Express Connect console and click Create application. In the dialog box that appears, configure the following parameters:
-
Requester VPC: Your on-premises data center or facility where the Express Connect circuit originates.
-
Data center location: Enter the precise address of your data center.
-
Access Bandwidth Spec: Select a bandwidth from 1 Mbps to 100 Gbps.
-
ISP: Select an ISP that services your data center. You can confirm this with your property management or colocation provider.
-
Subscription Duration: Select a period from one to three years.
-
Contact and Phone number: Enter your contact information.
-
-
Client: The Alibaba Cloud or partner network access point where the Express Connect circuit terminates. The circuit connects to the cloud network at this point to enable communication with cloud resources.
Two types of access points are supported:
-
Alibaba Cloud access point: Operated by Alibaba Cloud and typically located in regions that host Alibaba Cloud data centers. They support high bandwidth (1 Gbps to 100 Gbps) but have limited geographic coverage. For a list of supported access points, see Alibaba Cloud access points.
-
Partner access point: Operated by third-party suppliers. They support lower bandwidth (<10 Gbps) but offer wider geographic coverage and more connection options. The supplier connects your circuit to the nearest partner access point and then forwards traffic over its own network to an interconnected Alibaba Cloud access point. For a list of supported access points, see Access point locations and Access point locations.
Parameters:
-
Region: Select the destination region for the Express Connect circuit.
-
Express Connect Circuit Provider: Select your preferred ISPs. You can select multiple options. Access point locations and port specifications vary by ISP. You can review the options in the next two drop-down lists.
-
Access Point: To minimize costs, we recommend selecting the nearest access point because the connection cost increases with the distance from your data center.
For Alibaba Cloud access points, you can use the Recommendation Mode to check the network latency of each access point or use the Map Mode to view the geographic location of each access point.
-
Port specification: Select the bandwidth of the physical port at the access point.
-
If you select an Alibaba Cloud access point, the supported bandwidth is from 1 Gbps to 100 Gbps. The corresponding physical port is a dedicated type, which means you have exclusive use of a physical circuit.
-
If you have already confirmed the access point, select the I agree to create the port checkbox. The system automatically creates a physical port with the specified specification.
-
If you have not yet confirmed the access point, clear the I agree to create the port checkbox. During the Delivery stage, the system automatically creates a physical port. You must then manually associate it with this circuit.
-
-
If you select a partner access point, the supported bandwidth is less than 10 Gbps. After resource delivery, you receive a shared physical port, meaning you share the circuit with other tenants.

Track progress
-
After you submit your application, an Alibaba Cloud service manager will contact you. Please keep your phone line open. We recommend that you scan the QR code to join the service group for one-to-one support. To find the QR code, locate the desired connection and click Get Help in the Actions column.
-
During deployment, you can view the connection's progress in the Line Delivery Progress column, which shows the owner and start time for each stage.
-
During the Requirement Submission and Requirement Analysis stages, you can modify the application fields by clicking Edit in the Actions column for the connection. After the Resource Survey stage begins, you can no longer edit the application.
Upgrade bandwidth
You can upgrade the bandwidth only when the connection status is Acceptance Completed. To do so, find the connection and click Modify Bandwidth Configurations in the Actions column. After you submit the upgrade request, the connection status changes to Requirement Submission, and a new service process begins.
Billing
The one-stop cloud connectivity service is free of charge. You are billed only for the Express Connect resources you use.
