How can I locate network connectivity problems when a function accesses other services?
Start by checking VPC configuration, then run diagnostic code in your function to isolate the failure layer, and finally check the target service's logs to confirm whether requests are arriving.
Check VPC configuration
If you access the Internet from a VPC, make sure Internet access is enabled for the VPC. Without it, all outbound Internet requests from the function fail silently.
Run diagnostic code in your function
Add the following code to your function, invoke it, and check the output in the console:
os.system("ping -c 5 " + host_or_ip)— determines whether the IP address can be pinged.os.system("curl -v " + endpoint)— verifies whether the HTTP service is available.
Check the target service's connection logs
Search the target service's connection logs for the period when your function ran and look for requests from Function Compute.
