Get started with Global Accelerator

更新时间: 2026-05-27 10:42:11

Learn the workflow and use cases for the Global Accelerator service to quickly set up Global Accelerator and accelerate access.

Note

Alibaba Cloud offers a free trial of pay-as-you-go standard Global Accelerator instances for enterprise users who use GA for the first time. Visit Alibaba Cloud Free Trial to apply for a trial. For a trial tutorial, see Accelerate access to backend services with specified IP addresses.

Workflow

Note

This topic uses pay-as-you-go billing as an example. For subscription billing, purchase a GA instance and associate a basic bandwidth plan before configuring resources such as acceleration areas and endpoint groups.

Standard GA instances

A standard GA instance provides Layer 4 (TCP and UDP) and Layer 7 (HTTP and HTTPS) acceleration.

  1. Create a pay-as-you-go standard GA instance.

You can also configure an acceleration area, listener, and endpoint group during creation. Create a pay-as-you-go standard instance.

  2. Conditionally required: If you accelerate access through a domain name, configure DNS to map it to the CNAME assigned to the GA instance.

    Configure a CNAME record.

  3. Conditionally required: If your business configuration involves access acceleration between regions in the Chinese mainland and regions in China (Hong Kong), China (Macao), China (Taiwan), or other countries and regions, click here to learn how to configure cross-border acceleration.

    1. Enable cross-border acceleration.

If you accepted the compliance commitments during instance creation, cross-border acceleration is already enabled. Skip this step.

After enabling cross-border acceleration, the Transmission Network Type for the GA instance is set to BGP (Multi-ISP) Pro. No additional configuration is required for cross-border acceleration between the Chinese mainland and other regions, including China (Hong Kong), China (Macao), China (Taiwan), or other countries and regions.

      1. On the Instances page, find the target standard GA instance and click its ID.

      2. On the instance details page, click the Instance Information tab. In the Transmission Network Type area, click Enable Cross-border Acceleration.

      3. In the Enable Cross-border Acceleration dialog box, read the Compliance Commitments Regarding Cross-border Data Transfers, select Agree to the Preceding Compliance Agreement, and then click Enable.

      4. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.

    2. Switch the transmission network type.

For lower latency and better performance, switch the default transmission network type from BGP (Multi-ISP) Pro to Cross-border Express Connect.

Before you proceed, ensure that you have passed the qualification application for China Unicom's cross-border services.

      1. On the instance details page, click the Instance Information tab.

      2. In the Transmission Network Type area, find the Cross-border Express Connect card and click Enable Cross-border Express Connect on the card.

      3. If this is your first time enabling Cross-border Express Connect, select the following checkboxes in the Switch to Cross-border Express Connect dialog box, and then click Switch.

        Warning

If your current acceleration configuration involves cross-border networks, this operation causes a service disruption for about 1 minute. Proceed with caution.

        • Read the CDT Terms of Service and select I have read and agree to to activate Cloud Data Transfer (CDT) for cross-border data transfer.

        • Read the risk information about switching to Cross-border Express Connect and select I am aware of the risks and want to proceed..

      4. If you have enabled Cross-border Express Connect before, in the Are you sure that you want to switch to cross-border Express Connect circuits? dialog box, select I am aware of the risks and want to proceed., and click Switch.

        Warning

If your current acceleration configuration involves cross-border networks, this operation causes a service disruption for about 1 minute. Proceed with caution.

When the Cross-border Express Connect card shows Enabled, you can use Cross-border Express Connect to accelerate access.

Basic GA instances

A basic GA instance provides Layer 3 (IP) acceleration.

Before enabling cross-border acceleration and Cross-border Express Connect for a basic GA instance, ensure you have passed the qualification application for China Unicom's cross-border services.

    1. On the instance details page, click the Instance Information tab. In the Billing Information area, turn on the Transmission Network Type switch.

    2. In the Enable Cross-border Acceleration dialog box, read the Compliance Commitments Regarding Cross-border Data Transfers, select Agree to the Preceding Compliance Agreement, and then click Enable.

If this is your first time enabling Cross-border Express Connect, you must also read the CDT Terms of Service and select I have read and agree to to activate Cloud Data Transfer (CDT) for cross-border data transfer.

    3. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.

When Cross-border Express Connect Enabled appears next to the Transmission Network Type switch, you can use Cross-border Express Connect to accelerate access.

  3. Add an acceleration area and accelerated IP addresses.

    Add an acceleration area.

  4. Add an endpoint group and endpoints, and associate the accelerated IP addresses with the endpoint group.

Add and manage endpoint groups and endpoints.
