You can upgrade or downgrade Global Accelerator instances and basic bandwidth plans to match your business requirements.

Change standard instance specifications

You can upgrade or downgrade a subscription standard Global Accelerator instance.

Before you begin, review the following information:

Effective time

Billing impact

Use cases

  • By default, you can only upgrade an instance. The downgrade feature is not enabled by default. To use this feature, you must apply for the Console Downgrade quota in Quota Center. For more information, see Apply for an entitlement quota.

  • An upgrade may add new endpoint group IP addresses. The number of new IP addresses depends on the instance specification and is displayed in the console. You must manually confirm these IP addresses to make them available.

You can confirm the IP addresses in the console or by calling the UpdateAcceleratorConfirm API operation.

  • A downgrade may reduce the number of endpoint group IP addresses.

Specification changes take effect immediately but may be delayed by a few minutes due to network latency.

  • After you submit an upgrade order, you must pay the price difference for the remainder of the current billing cycle.

  • A real-time downgrade may result in a refund. The refund amount is the difference between the cost of the new configuration for the remaining billing cycle and the remaining value of the previous configuration. The remaining value is affected by factors such as discounts and coupons applied at the time of purchase. The actual amount is displayed on the order page. For more information, see Refunds for resource downgrades.

Use cases

  • By default, you can only upgrade a basic bandwidth plan. The downgrade feature is not enabled by default. To use this feature, you must apply for the Console Downgrade quota in Quota Center. For more information, see Apply for an entitlement quota.

  • Before downgrading a basic bandwidth plan, ensure that the total bandwidth allocated to all acceleration regions does not exceed the new peak bandwidth.

  • When you change the specifications of a basic bandwidth plan, ensure that the new peak bandwidth does not exceed the maximum bandwidth supported by your Global Accelerator instance. For more information about instance specifications, see Standard Global Accelerator instances.

  • You can change the bandwidth type of a basic bandwidth plan only in the following scenarios:

    • Upgrade from basic bandwidth to enhanced bandwidth.

    • Downgrade from enhanced bandwidth to basic bandwidth.

Specification changes usually take effect immediately but may be delayed by a few minutes due to network latency.
