Apply for a public endpoint

Updated at:

Graph Database (GDB) lets you apply for a public endpoint to connect to an instance over the internet.

Background information

Graph Database (GDB) instances support both virtual private cloud (VPC) and internet network types. The following table describes the endpoints.

Address type

Description

Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)

  • A VPC is an isolated network environment. It provides higher security and better performance than a classic network.

  • GDB instances provide a VPC endpoint by default. Connecting to a GDB instance through a VPC provides higher security and better connectivity performance.

Public endpoint

  • Connecting to an instance over the internet poses security risks. Because of this, GDB instances do not provide a public endpoint by default.

  • To connect to a GDB instance from a device outside Alibaba Cloud, such as an on-premises device, you can manually apply for a public endpoint.

Prerequisites

  • You have configured a whitelist. The public endpoint is displayed on the Basic Information page of the instance only after the whitelist is configured.

  • If you use a public endpoint to connect to the instance, add the public IP address of your server to the whitelist.

Precautions

  • The instance may restart when you apply for a public endpoint. Perform this operation during off-peak hours.

  • You cannot revoke or release a public endpoint after it is created.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Graph Database console.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select the resource group and region where the instance is located.

  3. Click the Instance ID of the target instance, or click Manage in the Actions column.

  4. In the Basic Information section, click Apply for Public Endpoint.

  5. In the Apply for Public Endpoint dialog box, click OK.

    Important

It typically takes 2 to 3 minutes to apply for a public endpoint.
