Managed Service for Grafana lets you back up workspace data, such as dashboards, data sources, organizations, and accounts.

Prerequisites

The data backup feature is available for Pro Edition and Advanced Edition workspaces. Make sure that you have activated the Advanced Edition for your workspace. You can activate or upgrade the workspace edition in the Managed Service for Grafana console. For more information, see Grafana billing rules.

Important

This feature is available in the Grafana Pro Edition and Advanced Edition. If you are using the Grafana Developer Edition, please upgrade to the Pro Edition or the Advanced Edition to use this feature.

Feature access

  1. Log on to the Managed Service for Grafana console. In the left-side navigation pane, click Workspace Management.

  2. On the Workspace Management page, click the ID of the workspace that you want to manage.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Advanced Features > Data Backup.

Backup creation

You can back up dashboard data or parameter settings based on your requirements.

  • A dashboard data backup includes workspace data, such as dashboards, data sources, organizations, and accounts. You can create a maximum of three dashboard data backups for each workspace.

  • A configuration parameter backup includes all custom parameters from the Parameter Settings page. You can create a maximum of three configuration parameter backups for each workspace.

  1. On the Dashboard Data Backup tab or the Configure Parameter Backup tab, click Create Backup.

  2. In the dialog box, enter a backup name, and then click Confirm.

After a backup is created, its record is displayed on the Dashboard Data Backup or Configure Parameter Backup tab. The record lists details such as the backup name, type (manual backup), status (Completed), creation time, and description. You can then Delete or Restore the backup.

Backup restoration

  1. On the Dashboard Data Backup tab or the Configure Parameter Backup tab, find the target backup and click Restore.

  2. In the confirmation dialog box, click Restore.

    Note

The restore process takes about 5 minutes. Before you restore, back up the current workspace data.
