To activate the Search service, you must have an ApsaraDB for HBase Enhanced Edition cluster and a Big Data Service (BDS) cluster deployed in the same VPC. If you already have these required clusters, you can skip this step.
To purchase an ApsaraDB for HBase Enhanced Edition cluster and a BDS cluster, go to the ApsaraDB for HBase product page, click Buy Now, and select your desired cluster and configuration. Alternatively, in the ApsaraDB for HBase console, you can click Create HBase Cluster and Create BDS Cluster.
Activate the full-text index (Search) service
From your ApsaraDB for HBase Enhanced Edition cluster console, click Full-text Index in the navigation pane on the left to activate the service.
On the activation page, associate an available BDS cluster.
NoteYou can only select a BDS cluster that is in the same VPC as your ApsaraDB for HBase Enhanced Edition cluster and not already associated with another cluster for full-text indexing.
Select an instance type. The Search service has high memory and disk I/O requirements. We recommend choosing an instance type with ample memory and using SSD cloud disks and local SSD disks. If you have questions about selecting an instance type, contact us in the
ApsaraDB for HBase Q&ADingTalk group or submit a ticket.
During the activation process, both the ApsaraDB for HBase Enhanced Edition cluster and the BDS cluster are automatically upgraded to their latest versions. This upgrade may cause brief service disruptions, so we recommend activating the service during off-peak hours. The selected BDS cluster cannot be associated with other clusters or used for other purposes. Proceed with caution.

After activation, three instances appear in the console. You can use the service when the ApsaraDB for HBase Enhanced Edition instance ld-t4n33q6tj8hexxxx, the BDS instance bds-t4n579vl2f74xxxx, and the Search instance ld-t4n33q8he022kxxxx-m1-se are all in the Running state. For the BDS instance, the Service / Version / Primary Instance column shows it is associated with the Search instance, ld-t4n33q8he022kxxxx. For the Search instance, the same Service / Version / Primary Instance column shows it is associated with the ApsaraDB for HBase Enhanced Edition instance, ld-t4n33q6tj8hexxxx.
