Supported instance types and limits for async replication disaster recovery
The async replication disaster recovery plan is compatible with most instance types.
The following limits apply to async replication disaster recovery.
Region and zone limits: Support for this feature is being rolled out to regions in phases. The available regions and zones are those that you can select when you create a site pair. For more information, see Limits.
Disk types: Enterprise SSDs (ESSDs) and ESSD AutoPL disks are supported. Entry-level ESSD AutoPL disks are not supported. For more information, see Limits.
ECS network limits.
Single ENI limits.
Some operating systems do not automatically configure the Elastic Network Interface (ENI) on the disaster recovery site after a switchover. After a failover, see Configure a secondary ENI to check and configure the ENI on the disaster recovery site. This ensures that the network functions correctly.
Multiple ENI limits.
After a secondary ENI is attached to an ECS instance, some images cannot automatically detect the IP address of the secondary ENI and add a route. This prevents the secondary ENI from functioning correctly.
If an ECS instance is configured with a secondary ENI, check and confirm the IP address of the secondary ENI after a disaster recovery switchover to ensure that it functions correctly. For instructions, see Configure a secondary ENI.
ENIs and ECS instances that are outside the VPC of the site pair are not supported.
