Cancel an ICP filing

Cancellation methods

Choose the cancellation method that fits your needs:

• Online cancellation: If your website, app, or other internet information service is no longer in use, or if you need to cancel the filing for other reasons, follow the online cancellation procedure.

• Offline cancellation: If you cannot cancel the filing in the Alibaba Cloud ICP Filing system (for example, you cannot log in to your account or your filing has been removed from the service provider), you can cancel it offline. For details, see Cancel the ICP filing of a shell entity.

Cancellation types

Online cancellation procedure

1. Log in to the Alibaba Cloud ICP Filing system with the account used for the ICP filing.

   If you are a former HiChina user, you must first import your HiChina ICP filing information to cancel the ICP filing.

2. Refer to the Use cases table to choose the appropriate cancellation type: Cancel Entity, Cancel Website, or Cancel App.

   Note

   • If the Cancel Service button is grayed out, you must first abandon the ICP filing for any ongoing applications or wait for pending applications to be approved by the communications administration before you can proceed with the cancellation.

   • If you encounter system restrictions, such as an error logging in to your Alibaba Cloud account or if your ICP filing has been removed from the service provider, you must follow the offline procedure to cancel the ICP filing. For details, see Cancel the ICP filing of other entities or shell entities.

   Entity

   1. To the right of the entity, click Cancel Entity.

   2. Read the cancellation notice, click One-click Input to populate the declaration, and then click Next.

      The notice states that the ICP filing information for the entity and all associated websites and apps will be deleted from the MIIT system. Any domain names not filed under another entity will no longer be able to access Alibaba Cloud services. If you only want to remove the ICP filing from Alibaba Cloud's management while retaining your filing information, select Cancel Access. You can also refer to the ICP Filing Migration Service.

   3. Click Send Verification Code, enter the code you receive, and then click Confirm and Submit.

      The page displays information about the entity to be canceled, including the ICP entity filing number, entity name, principal's name, and contact information.

   4. After submitting the cancellation request, the MIIT sends a verification message to the entity's principal. You must complete the SMS verification within 24 hours of receiving the message. For details, see Step 3: MIIT SMS Verification.

   Single website or app

   1. In the Actions column for the target website or app, click Cancel Service.

   2. Read the cancellation notice, click One-click Input to populate the declaration, and then click Next.

   3. On the Information Confirmation page, confirm the service details and select a Verification Method.

      • Mobile phone number of the service principal: Select the mobile phone number of the principal for the chosen website or app, and then click Send Verification Code.

      • Security mobile phone of the Alibaba Cloud account: The security mobile number is displayed automatically. Click Send Verification Code.

   4. The system sends a verification code to the selected mobile number. Enter the code that you receive and click Confirm and Submit.

   5. (Optional) This step is required only if you chose the service principal's mobile number for verification. After submitting the cancellation request, the MIIT sends a verification message to the service principal. You must complete the SMS verification within 24 hours.    Multiple websites or apps

   1. In the Internet Information Service section, click Batch Cancel Services.

   2. Select the websites or apps that you want to cancel, and then click OK.

      Note

      You can select a mix of websites and apps, or only websites or apps.

   3. Read the cancellation notice, click One-click Input to populate the declaration, and then click Next.

   4. On the Information Confirmation page, confirm the details of the selected services, and then choose a Verification Method.

      • Mobile phone number of the service principal: Select the mobile phone number of the principal for the chosen website or app, and then click Send Verification Code.

      • Security mobile phone of the Alibaba Cloud account: The security mobile number is displayed automatically. Click Send Verification Code.

      Note

      After you submit a batch request, the system automatically splits it into separate cancellation requests for each service and submits them to the communications administration.

   5. The system sends a verification code to the selected mobile number. Enter the code that you receive and click Confirm and Submit.

   6. (Optional) This step is required only if you chose the service principal's mobile number for verification. After submitting the cancellation request, the MIIT sends a verification message to the service principal's mobile phone. You must complete the SMS verification within 24 hours. For batch cancellations, you will receive a separate verification message for each service. Ensure you verify all of them. For details, see Step 3: MIIT SMS Verification.

3. Check the result of your cancellation request.

   Log in to the MIIT ICP Filing Management System, go to the ICP Filing Query page, and search for your information. If no record is found, the cancellation is successful.
