Billing overview
After you activate the service, you can use the Financial-grade Real Person Authentication service. This topic describes the payment methods, optional billable items, product pricing, settlement, and billing cycles for the various product solutions and integration methods available in the Financial-grade Real Person Authentication service.
Payment methods
The Financial-grade Real Person Authentication service offers the following payment methods. Select a payment method that meets your needs.
Daily billing (pay-as-you-go)
With the pay-as-you-go payment method, you are charged at the list price according to the metering method of your chosen product solution and integration method. For more information, see Product pricing.
Resource plan (prepaid)
To pay with a prepaid resource plan, you must purchase a plan that corresponds to your product solution and integration method on the resource plan purchase page. For more information, see Product pricing.
After purchase, usage within the resource plan's quota incurs no extra charges. Any usage exceeding the quota is billed at the pay-as-you-go list price. For more information, see Purchase a Financial-grade Real Person Authentication resource plan.
To avoid cost increases from abnormal service calls, you can configure spending alert rules immediately after connecting to the product. For more information, see How can I prevent high pay-as-you-go bills?
Optional billable items
In addition to service calls, the Financial-grade Real Person Authentication service offers additional QPS protection and OSS storage. You can purchase these optional services based on your business needs.
Additional QPS protection fees
If you need to increase your QPS protection, contact your account manager for details about protection periods and associated fees.
OSS storage fees
Some integration methods of the Financial-grade Real Person Authentication service allow you to store user authentication photos in your OSS bucket for auditing. This feature is optional and incurs storage fees. When authorized, the system creates a bucket to store the collected face images.
The Financial-grade Real Person Authentication service uses LRS (Locally Redundant Storage). The list price for this storage is CNY 0.12 per GB per month. For more information about OSS billing, see OSS billing details.
For example, consider a customer who processes 10,000 transactions daily. The average size of a face photo collected by Financial-grade Real Person Authentication is approximately 0.1 MB, and the data is retained for one month. The formula to calculate the customer's OSS fees is as follows:
Storage volume = 10,000 * 0.1 * 30 ≈ 29 GB
Retention period = 1 month
Monthly storage fee = 29 * 0.12 = CNY 3.48

To make it easier to check your bills later, after you call the InitFaceVerify API to initiate a Financial-grade Real Person Authentication request, save the returned CertifyId field for billing statistics locally. For information about how to call the real person authentication request API, see Developer Guide.
Billing cycle
The Financial-grade Real Person Authentication service generates a bill daily for your usage from the previous calendar day. Bills are typically generated within 10 to 12 hours after the end of each calendar day. If your account balance is insufficient to cover the bill amount, your account will have an overdue payment.
Visit the Bill Details page to view your past bills.
To view detailed usage data, see Query usage data.
Due to billing delays, charges from the last day of a month may appear on the following month's bill in Billing Management. For example, a monthly bill for January 2022 might cover usage from December 31, 2021, to January 30, 2022. To resolve questions about your monthly bill, sign in to the Identity-verification-based E-KYC console, navigate to Verification Record in the left-side navigation pane, and adjust the date range to reconcile the usage data.
Settlement cycle
Since December 25, 2019, the Financial-grade Real Person Authentication service has used a daily settlement model. Bills are generated and settled daily.
Each calendar day, the Financial-grade Real Person Authentication service generates a bill for your usage from the previous calendar day, and the amount is deducted from your Alibaba Cloud account. If you have a resource plan, its quota is consumed first. Any usage exceeding the plan's quota is then charged to your account.
To avoid service interruptions due to overdue payments, maintain a sufficient account balance (for example, enough to cover one month of estimated usage). Alternatively, you can purchase a resource plan in advance and set up alerts for low remaining quota. For more information, see Resource Plan Introduction and Purchase.
Overdue payments
If your account has an overdue payment, the Financial-grade Real Person Authentication service is suspended. To restore the service, clear the overdue balance by adding funds to your account. For more information about topping up your Alibaba Cloud account, see Online Top-up.
Resource plan refund policy
A full refund is available for unused resource plans if requested within 5 days of purchase.
To check if your resource plan has been used, go to Billing Management and view its usage. For details, see Resource Plan Introduction and Purchase.
For refund requests made between 5 and 30 days of purchase, a partial refund is available for the unused portion of the plan. The refund is calculated as follows:
Refund amount = Actual amount paid for the order - Value of consumed usage
Actual amount paid for the order: This is the cash amount you paid for the order and excludes any deductions from vouchers or coupons.
Value of consumed usage: Number of verifications used × the pay-as-you-go list price
NoteA refund is issued only if the calculated refund amount is greater than CNY 0.
Refunds are not available for resource plans purchased more than 30 days ago.
FAQ
How can I prevent high pay-as-you-go bills?
The ID Verification for Financial Services service does not currently support hard caps on call volumes or automatic service deactivation. To control costs and prevent high bills, you can implement the following monitoring measures:
Configure spending alerts: Set a Set high-spending alerts threshold to monitor spending on your bill in real time.
Monitor data transfer plan usage: If you have purchased a data transfer plan, see Configure remaining quota alerts to monitor its usage. This lets you replenish resources or adjust your calling strategy promptly.
How do I stop billing for the ID Verification for Financial Services service?
The ID Verification for Financial Services service uses a pay-as-you-go billing method. You are charged only for successful API calls. You cannot directly shut down the service instance in the console. If you no longer need the service, you can use one of the following methods to stop billing:
Stop calls from your application: You can remove or comment out the logic that calls the information validation API in your application code. This is the most direct and complete way to stop billing.
Disable the access credential: If you cannot modify the code right away, you can disable the current AccessKey to block API requests.
Before you disable an AccessKey or modify RAM role permissions, confirm that the credential is not shared with other Alibaba Cloud services or business systems. Disabling the credential without confirmation may break other services that depend on it. Proceed with caution.
Am I charged again if the same person is verified multiple times?
Multiple verifications for the same user incur separate charges because the service is billed per verification, not per user. Each authentication request is counted as one valid call and incurs a fee once the system receives the submitted information and determines a result, regardless of whether the authentication passes or fails.
Is there a separate fee for the ID Verification for Financial Services SDK package?
No, there is not. The ID Verification for Financial Services SDK package is free. There are no software licensing or integration fees. Charges are incurred only when the authentication service is called.
Do different Scene IDs (SceneId) share the same authentication quota?
After you activate the ID Verification for Financial Services service, it uses daily billing (pay-as-you-go) by default. Authentication requests from all Scene IDs (SceneId) consume the same authentication quota under your Alibaba Cloud account, including the pay-as-you-go quota and any purchased resource plans. The quota is not isolated by Scene ID.
What is the billing rule after the trial quota is used up?
After the trial quota is used up, calls are billed at the standard pay-as-you-go rate. To lower your costs, you can purchase a data transfer plan to offset the call volume.
