This topic describes how to manage instances of Cloud Identity Service.
Create an instance
In the Application Identity Management console, click the EIAM menu to go to the Cloud Identity Service console.
Click Create Instance, enter an instance name, and accept the terms of service to create a free Cloud Identity Service instance. A free instance is suitable for basic identity management scenarios. For more information, see Product Billing.
In the pop-up window, the region defaults to China (Hangzhou). Each account can create up to 3 Cloud Identity Service instances.
Click Console next to the Cloud Identity Service instance ID to access the instance.
Start a trial
After accessing a Cloud Identity Service instance, go to the Quick Start page. In the lower-right corner, click Trial to start a free trial and experience most of the paid features. Each instance is eligible for only one free trial.
You can upgrade an instance during its trial period. After the upgrade is complete, the trial ends immediately.
When the trial expires, the instance is automatically downgraded to the free edition, and paid features become unavailable (the data in the instance is retained).
Upgrade an instance
In the Application Identity Management console, click the EIAM menu and then click Upgrade to open the upgrade page to purchase paid features for Cloud Identity Service. You can also upgrade the instance from its Quick Start page. For more information about paid features, see Product Billing.
Renew an instance
In the Application Identity Management console, click the EIAM menu. In the list of paid instances, click Renew to open the renewal page, where you can extend the subscription period for your current features. You can also renew the instance from its Quick Start page. For more information about paid features, see Product Billing.
Upgrade configuration
In the Application Identity Management console, click the EIAM menu. In the list of paid instances, click Lift to open the configuration upgrade page, where you can increase the quotas for the paid features of Cloud Identity Service. You can also upgrade the instance configuration from its Quick Start page. For more information about paid features, see Product Billing.
Release an instance
Only free edition instances can be released. To release a paid instance, you must first downgrade it to the free edition.
In the Application Identity Management console, click the EIAM menu. In the list of free instances, click EIAM to release the instance.
Releasing an instance is a sensitive operation and may trigger secondary authentication. You must use the Alibaba Cloud root account that owns the instance to complete verification using an SMS code. After the authentication is successful, the instance is released and all its data is deleted.
Once an instance is successfully released, all its data is permanently deleted. This action is irreversible.
