System alert rules

Updated at:

IoT Edge provides system alert rules. You can use these rules to set the alert frequency and message channels for all-in-one edge devices, terminal devices, and applications.

Prerequisites

  • You have created a DingTalk O&M group.

  • You have added a custom robot to the DingTalk O&M group and obtained its Webhook URL. For more information, see the official DingTalk documentation.

Manage alert rules

  1. Log on to the IoT Edge console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose O&M and Support > Alert Rules.

  3. On the Alert Rules page, click the System Alerts tab. You can view all system alert rules. You can also subscribe to rules, unsubscribe from them, or modify subscription settings.

For more information about how to manage system alert rules, see the following sections in this topic: Enable alerts, Global settings, Set alert thresholds, Subscribe to alerts, Modify a subscription, and Unsubscribe from an alert.

Enable alerts

On the System Alerts tab, find the alert rule and turn on the switch in the Enabled column. This allows alerts from that rule to be reported to the console.

Global settings

You can set the alert frequency for all global alert rules.

  1. On the System Alerts tab, click Global Settings.

    Note

The rules configured here apply to system alerts for all all-in-one edge devices in your current instance. To view your current instance, check the top of the navigation pane on the left. For more information about instances, see Manage instances.

    Parameter

    Description

    Alert Level

Select Critical Alert or Major Alert to set the notification frequency.

    Alert Frequency

Set the time interval and number of notifications for alerts.

    • Time interval: You can select a system-provided time interval for notifications or choose not to limit the time. If you do not limit the time, a notification is sent whenever a critical or major alert occurs.

    • Number of notifications: If you select a system-provided time interval, you must also select the number of notifications.

  2. Click Confirm to save the global alert settings.

Set alert thresholds

You can set thresholds for the memory usage, disk usage, processor usage (CPU, VPU, and GPU), and processor temperature of all-in-one edge devices. The thresholds are set as percentages. A red line indicates a critical alert threshold, and a yellow line indicates a major alert threshold.

  1. On the System Alerts tab, click Set Thresholds.

  2. In the Set Thresholds panel, set the threshold parameters as prompted.

  3. Click Confirm to save the threshold settings.

Subscribe to alerts

Important

To subscribe to an alert, you must first enable the alert rule. Otherwise, the subscription will not take effect.

  1. On the System Alerts tab, find an alert rule that you have not subscribed to. In the Operations column, click Subscribe to Alert.

  2. In the Subscribe to Alert dialog box, set the parameters as prompted.

    Parameter

    Description

    Level

Select the level for the alert rule you are subscribing to.

    Alert Frequency

Select how often alerts are reported. The options are:

    • Report alerts based on a time limit. The system provides multiple time limit options.

    • Do not limit the time for reporting. An alert is reported as soon as it occurs.

    Host Offline Duration (minutes)

This parameter is required only for the Host is abnormally offline and Device is offline alert rules. Select the duration for which an all-in-one edge device or terminal device must be offline before this alert rule is triggered.

    Device Offline Duration (minutes)

    Message Notification Status

    There are two notification methods:

    • DingTalk Robot Webhook: Receive alert messages that match this rule through a DingTalk robot.

Enter the DingTalk robot Webhook URL that you obtained in the Prerequisites section to associate your DingTalk O&M group.

    • Alibaba Cloud Message Center: Receive alert notifications that match this rule through various methods, such as email, internal messages, and DingTalk robots.

Click Basic Receiving Management and DingTalk Receiving Management to go to the Alibaba Cloud Message Center and configure message receiving settings. For more information about operations in the Alibaba Cloud Message Center, see Message Hub settings in this topic.

  3. Click Confirm to complete the subscription.

Modify a subscription

After you subscribe to an alert rule on the System Alerts tab, you can modify the subscription settings. Click Modify Subscription in the Operations column for the rule. For parameter descriptions, see the table in the Subscribe to alerts section.

Unsubscribe

After you subscribe to an alert rule on the System Alerts tab, you can unsubscribe from it. Click Unsubscribe in the Operations column for the rule. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.

Message Hub settings

If you set Message Notification Status to Alibaba Cloud Message Center, you must configure notification methods and recipients in the Message Center.

  1. Log on to the IoT Edge console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose O&M and Support > Alert Rules.

  3. On the Alert Rules page, on the System Alerts tab, click Modify Subscription or Subscribe to Alert in the Operations column for an alert rule.

  4. In the Subscribe to Alert dialog box, for the Message Notification Status parameter, click Basic Receiving Management.

  5. On the Basic Receiving Management page, click the drop-down list next to Product Message. Find IoT Edge O&M Alerting and select the Internal Message and Mailbox channel options as needed. By default, alert notifications are sent to the mailbox that is associated with your current Alibaba Cloud account.

  6. (Optional) To the right of Message Type, click Modify under Account Contacts to change the message recipients.

  7. On the DingTalk Receiving Management page, from the drop-down list next to Product Message, find IoT Edge O&M Alerting and click Modify as needed to set the DingTalk robot Webhook.

In the Modify DingTalk Robot dialog box, click Add Message Recipient and enter the new robot name and Webhook URL.

You can also go to the DingTalk Receiving Management page and click DingTalk Group Robot Management to modify existing DingTalk group robots.

After you configure the Message Center settings, you will receive alert information through the notification methods you configured.
