Projects
In IoT Studio, a project is a collection of applications, services, and IoT Platform resources, such as products, devices, and data assets. Applications and services within the same project share resources. In contrast, applications, services, and resources in different projects are isolated from each other.

New users of Alibaba Cloud IoT Platform cannot use the IoT Living Platform. If a new user uses their current Alibaba Cloud account to also activate the IoT Living Platform, then:

The new public instance on IoT Platform will be automatically downgraded to an old public instance, and all data on the instance will be lost.

Projects created in IoT Studio will become unavailable and the action cannot be reverted. This will disrupt your use of IoT Platform and IoT Studio.
For these reasons, we recommend that you use a different Alibaba Cloud account to activate and use the Living IoT Platform.

The data analytics service for old public instances has been discontinued. To continue using data services, you must purchase an Enterprise Edition instance. For more information, see Purchase an Enterprise Edition instance.

Background
IoT Studio provides two types of projects:

Global resource project: For an old public instance, IoT Studio provides a default global resource project, which you must create manually. This project automatically synchronizes all products, devices, and data assets from IoT Platform.
Note-
You only need to create the global resource project once.

An existing global resource project automatically synchronizes subsequent resource updates (modifications, additions, and deletions) from IoT Platform.

Standard project: A standard project is primarily used for resource isolation, allowing you to create a collection of applications, services, and IoT Platform resources. In contrast to a global resource project, a standard project allows you to customize the project name and manually associate or add the resources you need.
Limits
-
Currently, you can use a global resource project in IoT Studio only with an old public instance of IoT Platform.

When you create a standard project in IoT Studio, IoT Platform automatically creates a device group named
p_{ProjectID}.ImportantDo not delete this device group from IoT Platform. Deleting the group also removes the associated devices from the project, which can cause data anomalies and disrupt your services. Proceed with caution.
Create a project
Standard project

On the Project Management page, click New Project.

On the New Project page, move your pointer over the blank project area and click Create Blank Project.

In the New Blank Project dialog box, enter the basic information.
Parameter
Description
Project Name
The name can contain Chinese characters, English letters, numbers, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and parentheses (). The name must be 30 characters or less. Each Chinese character counts as a single character.
Description
A description of the project. The description must be 100 characters or less. Each Chinese character counts as a single character.

Click OK.
The new project appears in the standard project list on the Project Management page. For more information, see Manage applications, business logic, and data assets in a project.
Optional operations
Modify the project name

On the project Home page, click Project Settings in the upper-right corner, and then click Edit Basic Information.

In the Edit Basic Information dialog box, enter a new project name and click Save.
Delete the project
Before deleting a project, delete all its applications and services, and unassociate all related products and devices.

Return to the Project Management page, find the project that you want to delete, and click the
icon in the upper-right corner of the project card. -
Click Delete.

Click Confirm.
Global resource project

In the Global Resource Project section, click Create Now.

In the Create Global Resource Project dialog box, select the I have read and agree to create the global resource project checkbox.
After the global resource project is created, it automatically synchronizes all resources such as products, devices, and data from IoT Platform. Because this is a system project, it cannot be deleted after it is created. Click OK to complete the creation.

Click OK.
After the project is created, you can view the synchronized global resource information. For more information, see Manage products, devices, applications, and business logic in a project.
Manage applications, business logic, and data assets

On the Project Management page, click a project card to open its details page.

On the project Home page, you can view statistics and lists for applications, services, and resources.

Statistics: Displays the number of associated products and devices, and the number of developed web applications, mobile applications, and business logic items.

On the Web Application, Mobile Application, or Business Logic tab, click New to add a corresponding development item.

Data assets
You can associate assets from your Enterprise Edition instance, including data services (pre-built metric APIs, custom service APIs, and product data APIs) and data tables (device data sources and custom storage tables). For more information, see Data APIs and Data storage tables.
Associate data assets
Important-
Only data service assets associated with a project can be used in its applications and business logic.

Basic data services, pre-built metric APIs, product data APIs, and device data sources are system-generated data assets. They are shared across all projects and do not need to be manually associated.

On the Data Assets tab, click Associate Data Assets.

In the pane that appears on the right, select the type of data asset to associate.

Select the checkbox next to the asset name.

Click Associate.
