Alibaba Cloud IoT Platform is available in multiple regions. Choose a region based on your latency, service interconnection, and pricing needs.

Concept

A region is a geographical area where a data center is located. Regions are named after the city where the data center resides. For example, China (Shanghai) indicates that the data center is in Shanghai.

How to select a region

Important

You must select a deployment region when you create or purchase an Alibaba Cloud resource. You cannot change the region after the resource is created.

Consider the following factors when you select a region:

Factor

Description

Geographical location

Deploying resources closer to your users reduces network latency and improves access speed.

Select a region that meets the latency requirements of your business scenario.

Service interconnection requirements for multiple products

Important

If you have already purchased an Alibaba Cloud networking service to resolve connectivity limitations between cloud products, you can ignore this factor.

  • If your services do not require service interconnection, you can deploy them in different regions or in the same region.

  • If your services require service interconnection, deploy them in the same region.

Resource price

Select a region that fits your budget.

Resource prices may vary across regions. For pricing details, see the product page or purchase page of the Alibaba Cloud product.
