Enterprise Edition instances of IoT Platform provide an alert feature for resource usage. You can monitor instance resources as metrics and configure alert rules based on your business needs. When a rule is triggered, the system sends a notification to a specified alert group.

Prerequisites

You have purchased an Enterprise Edition instance.

Create an alert rule

  1. Log on to the IoT Platform console. In the upper-left corner of the page, select the region where your instance is located.

  2. On the Instance Overview tab, click the target instance card.

  3. On the Instance Details page, click the Alert Rules tab.

  4. Click Create Alert Rule.

  5. In the Create Alert Rule panel, set the parameters for the alert rule, and click Next.

    Parameter

    Description

    Metric

Select a metric to monitor. The following options are available:

    • online devices

    • upstream and downstream message TPS

    • message forwarding TPS

    • time-series data storage read IOPS

    • time-series data storage write IOPS

    • time-series data storage space

    • data processing unit

    • offline data storage space

    Rule name

Enter a name for the rule.

    Statistical fields

    Select Count.

    Operator

    Select an operator. Options:

    • >=, >, <=, <, or !=.

    • Day-on-day increase or decrease (%).

    • Week-on-week increase or decrease (%).

    • Period-over-period increase or decrease (%).

    Threshold

    Specify an alert threshold.

    Evaluation periods

The number of consecutive evaluation periods for which the metric must meet the threshold condition. Options: 1, 3, 5, and 10.

    Period

The time interval over which the metric is evaluated. Options: 1 minute and 5 minutes.

For example, if you set the Period to 1 minute, the Threshold to >50, and the Evaluation periods to 3, an alert is triggered if the number of online devices exceeds 50 for three consecutive minutes.

  6. Configure alert notifications and click Confirm.

    Parameter

    Description

    Effective period

The time range during which the alert rule is active.

    Alert silence cycle

The interval for resending notifications if an alert condition persists.

    Alert group

    Select the alert group.

You can click Quick Create Alert Group to add an alert group. For more information, see Configure alert contacts.

    Alert severity

    • Phone + SMS + Email + DingTalk Bot (Critical)

    • SMS + Email + DingTalk Bot (Warning)

    • Email + DingTalk Bot (Info)

    Important

If you select a notification method that includes phone calls or SMS messages, ensure that you have a sufficient quota for these services in CloudMonitor. You can hover over the help icon image.png next to Alert Severity and click View Quota.

Result

After you complete the configuration, the new alert rule is displayed on the Alert Rules tab.

In the list of alert rules, find the desired rule and click Edit in the Actions column to modify it.

Click Delete in the Actions column to remove an alert rule.

View alert history

Above the list of alert rules, click View Alert History to open the Alert History page of the CloudMonitor console. On this page, you can view the alert history by rule name and cloud service.

For more information, see View historical alerts.
