Configure threshold alert rules

Updated at:

IoT Platform uses CloudMonitor to monitor your resource usage. You can configure alert rules to be notified when an alert is triggered. This topic shows you how to configure an alert rule.

Background

You can configure threshold alerts only for metrics that are displayed as area charts. For more information, see Metric description.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the IoT Platform console.
  2. In the upper-left corner of the console, select the region where your Enterprise instance is located. On the Instance Overview page, find the Enterprise instance and click the instance name.
  3. In the navigation pane on the left, choose O&M > Real-time Monitoring.
  4. On the Real-time Monitoring page, click the Alert Rules tab.

  5. Click Create Alert Rule.

  6. In the Create Alert Rule dialog box, configure the parameters for the alert rule and click Next.

    Parameter

    Description

    Metric

Select the metric to monitor. For supported metrics, see Metric description.

    Dimension

The default value is All Products. You can also specify a single product.

IoT Platform does not aggregate data from all products before evaluating an alert rule. If you select All Products, the platform evaluates the threshold and triggers the rule independently for each product.

    Alert rule name

Enter a name for the rule.

    Statistical field

Select Count, which sums the data within the data aggregation period.

    Operator

Select the comparison operator for the metric. Options include:

    • >=, >, <=, <, or !=

    • Day-over-day increase or decrease (Unit: %)

    • Week-over-week increase or decrease (Unit: %)

    • Period-over-period increase or decrease (Unit: %)

    Threshold

Set a threshold for the metric.

If you previously configured a threshold for the metric, that value appears here. You can change this value.

    Consecutive periods

The number of consecutive periods the condition must be met before an alert is triggered. Valid values: 1, 3, 5, and 10.

    Data aggregation period

The interval at which the platform checks the metric data. Valid values: 1 minute and 5 minutes.

For example, a rule might check every minute if the number of new online devices for a product exceeds 50. If this condition is met for 3 consecutive periods, an alert is triggered.

  7. Configure the alert notification settings and click OK.

    Parameter

    Description

    Effective Period

The period during which the alert rule is active.

    Silence Period

The interval at which alerts are resent if the alert condition persists.

    Alarm Notification Object

Specifies the contact group that receives alerts. To set alert contacts, see Configure alert contacts.

    Alert Level

    • Phone Call + SMS + Email + DingTalk chatbot (Critical)

    • SMS + Email + DingTalk chatbot (Warning)

    • Email + DingTalk chatbot (Info)

    Important

If you select a notification method that includes phone calls or SMS messages, make sure that you have a sufficient quota for these resources in CloudMonitor. You can hover over the help icon next to Alert Level and click View Quota.

After you complete the configuration, the created rules appear on the Alert Rules tab.

In the alert rule list, you can find the rule for the current instance and click Edit to modify it.

    Note

The Alert Rules tab displays all alert rules under your account for all instances. You can only modify the rules associated with the current instance.

  8. Optional: Above the alert rule list, click View Alert History.

On the Alert History page of the CloudMonitor console, you can view the alert history, filtered by rule name and cloud product.
