Data Service allows you to backfill historical data reported by your devices on a per-product basis.

Use cases

You can use data backfill in the following scenarios:

  • You enabled device data backup and need to retrieve data reported before backup was turned on.

  • You performed a device distribution or instance migration and need to retrieve data reported before the operation.

Limitations

  • You can backfill up to 30 days of historical device data.

  • A successful data backfill overwrites existing data.

Prerequisites

Device data backup is enabled. For more information, see Back up device data sources.

Backfill by product

When you backfill data for a product, the historical data from all devices under that product is retrieved.

  1. In the IoT Platform console, go to the Overview page and click the ID or alias of the target Enterprise Edition instance.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Data Service > Data Access. Click the Instance tab to view an overview of all instance data, including instance status, backup status, and backup cycle.

  3. In the instance list, find the target instance that has data backup enabled, and click View in the Actions column.

  4. In the Product List, find the target product, then click View in the Actions column.

  5. In the Product Information table, find the Backup Status column and click Data Backfill.

  6. In the Data Backfill dialog box, select a start and end time and a backfill type.

The backfill type includes TSL attribute and TSL event.

  7. Click OK.

The Backup Status column shows the backfill status: Not backfilled, Backfilling, Backfill completed (successful), or Backfill failed.
