Time Series Insight

Limitations

• Time Series Insight is available only for public instances and is not supported on Enterprise Edition instances.

• After you add a product, sub-properties are not supported if you select the Property First display mode.

Create a time series insight

1. Log on to the Data Analytics Console. In the top navigation bar, select Analytics & Insights, and then go to the Time Series Insight tab.

   Note

   The snapshot chart on the Time Series Insight list page is generated only after you save your work in the Time Series Insight workbench.

   On a time series analysis card, click the icon in the upper-right corner to Clone, Modify Information, or Delete it.

2. Click New Time Series Insight, and configure the parameters in the New Time Series Insight dialog box.

3. Click Confirm to open the Time Series Insight workbench.

   Note

   The images in this topic show the default (light) theme. IoT Data Analytics allows you to customize the workbench theme. To do this, click the settings icon in the upper-right corner of the workbench and select Dark Theme.

   The top of the workbench page contains a timeline and a Quick Time Selection area, the left panel contains the Add Product button, a display mode switch (Device First/Property First), and the Search Data Table search box, and the right side is a display area for time-series data charts.

4. Click Add Product. In the Add Product dialog box, select the products that you want to add.

   Note

   • You can select a maximum of 20 products.

   • The product drop-down list displays up to 50 of the most recently created products. You can search for any created product by its name.

   After you add the products, you can choose to display them in either Device First or Property First mode.

   • Device First: In the left pane, products are organized by device. Each device expands to show a list of all its property tags, such as room_temperature, power_LED, disk_usage, and CPU_usage. You can select the properties to analyze by using the checkboxes.

   • When you select Property First, the left panel is organized by property, unlike in the Device First mode. You can expand each property label to view the list of associated devices.

     Note

     In Property First mode, sub-properties are not supported.

5. Select one or more property or event tags in the selection area on the left. A line chart appears on the right.

   The line chart workbench has the following layout. The property tag selection area is at the bottom, and the Quick Time Range area is in the upper-right corner. Above the chart, you can set the data point interval and aggregation rule. In the chart area, you can select a time period by dragging a box and then click View Data to view details. The Save button is at the top right of the page.

   Note

   • Time-series analysis does not support non-metric properties and events.

   • You can select a maximum of five property or event tags from the left pane. The charts for the selected tags are displayed simultaneously on the right.

   Follow these steps to analyze and save the time-series analysis for a property.

   1. In the property tag selection area at the bottom, select a tag to analyze.

   2. In the Quick Time Selector area in the upper-right corner, set the time range for the tag's time series graph.

   3. In the settings area above the chart, configure the data point interval and aggregation rule for the time-series chart.

   4. On the chart, drag to select a time period, and then click View Data to view detailed information about all device properties within that period.

      The View Data window appears and displays the device property data for the selected time period in a table with columns such as Product, Device, Time, Tag, Tag Type, and Value.

      Note

      • To clear the selection on the chart, click anywhere inside the chart area.

      • When viewing the data table, you can click the close icon in the upper-right corner or press the Esc key to close the window.

   5. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Save to complete the time-series analysis for a property.

      Note

      You must save the analysis for one tag before selecting another.
