You can transfer specific devices to another Alibaba Cloud account. This topic describes how to transfer a device out of your account and how to accept a transferred device.

Prerequisites

  • The product to which the device belongs is published.

If the product is not published, publish it first. On the Product Details page, click Publish in the upper-right corner. Check that the product is ready to be published, and then click Publish.

  • Your Alibaba Cloud account is added to the whitelist.

    Important

You can no longer add accounts to the whitelist.

Limitations

  • You can transfer devices only on public instances in the China (Shanghai) region.

  • You cannot cancel a device transfer after it is complete.

  • After the transfer, you lose all permissions to view and manage the device.

  • The product is not transferred with the device. However, the destination account receives read-only permission for the product. This permission cannot be revoked. The owner of the destination account can view the product's basic information, except for the product key. They can also view and use the Thing Specification Language model, data parsing scripts, tags, and topics.

    Warning

Ensure that no sensitive information is leaked through the product.

  • For a single device, you can use the transfer feature together with the authorization feature, but not with the distribution feature.
