To store object model data reported by devices, the object model data storage feature is available. By default, the data storage's time series feature is activated for object model data storage, automatically writing object model data into the time series storage space. However, you can manually deactivate the time series data storage service for certain or all object models within a specific product. This topic outlines the steps to enable or disable object model data storage for a particular product.

Limits

Ensure that the current instance is a medium or premium enterprise edition instance and that the necessary time series data storage IOPS and time series data storage space have been acquired. For detailed instructions, see Purchase an enterprise edition instance.

Scenarios

  • To retrieve device data, utilize the API for querying. If object model data storage is deactivated, queries will be unavailable.

  • For long-term storage of device data, cost reduction, or further processing such as data analysis or data API integration, consider enabling device data backup. Once product data backup is enabled, the corresponding product's Offline Storage will automatically generate a Time Series/snapshot Table, which includes the Product Property Time Series Table, Product Property Snapshot Table, and Product Event Table.

Prerequisites

Ensure the object model is configured.

Procedure

Important

Note that disabling object model data storage will prevent subsequent data reported by the corresponding device from being stored in the time series data storage space.

  1. Access the IoT Platform console.

  2. Navigate to the Instance Overview tab, locate the desired enterprise edition instance, and click on the instance card to proceed to the Instance Details page.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, go to Data Service > Data Storage.

  4. Under the Time Series Storage tab, within the Storage Rules tab, you can toggle Object Model Data Storage or activate Product Data Backup.

    • To enable or disable object model data storage:

      1. Click on the TSL Data Storage Rule in the Operation column to View.

      2. On the Rule Details page, in the Object Model Storage section, use the dropdown list next to Product to select the desired product and object model Module.

      3. Toggle the Time Series Storage switch in the object model list to enable or disable object model data storage for individual models.

      4. Use the switch icon at the top right of the object model list to Enable All or Disable All object model data storage.

    • Optional: To preserve object model data for extended periods, activate Product Data Backup. On the Time Series Storage tab, under the Storage Rules tab, select Object Model Data Storage Rules and then click Data Backup in the Jump To Enable column. This will take you to the Data Access > Device page, where you can manually enable the product's data backup and opt for the more economical offline storage.

What to do next

To configure the storage duration and IOPS ratio for object model data, refer to Manage time series storage configuration.
