What is real-time monitoring

Updated at:

IoT Platform provides real-time monitoring of metrics for devices, messages, Thing Specification Language models, and the rules engine. You can configure alert rules in Cloud Monitor to monitor your IoT Platform data and trigger alerts.

Features

Real-time monitoring provides the following features:

  • Custom monitoring reports.

By default, IoT Platform provides real-time monitoring for the number of online devices, uplink and downlink messages, and messages processed by the rules engine. For more information, see Data metrics.

You can add data metrics to monitor as needed. For more information about how to add and configure monitoring metrics, see Custom monitoring metrics.

  • Configure Cloud Monitor alert rules.

IoT Platform supports threshold-based alerts. This feature lets you monitor custom metrics and send alert notifications. For more information, see Configure threshold-based alert rules.

Authorize RAM users to use real-time monitoring

To authorize RAM users to use the real-time monitoring feature, you must log on to the RAM console and grant the cms:QueryMetricList permission to the RAM users. For more information about how to customize a RAM permission policy, see Custom permissions.

The following script shows the cms:QueryMetricList permission policy.
