Automation rules monitor the status and traffic usage of Internet of Things (IoT) SIM cards and send notifications when specific conditions are met. This topic describes how to create an automation monitoring rule.

Usage notes

  • Both automation rules and MQ push notifications monitor the status and traffic usage of IoT SIM cards. The main difference is the notification delivery method. Automation rules provide notifications within the console and do not require custom development. In contrast, MQ push notifications can be sent directly to your system but require custom development.

  • After you configure an automation rule, notifications appear on the Automation Rules > Notifications page in the IoT SIM console. To receive notifications by email or through a DingTalk group chatbot, you must configure these options separately. For more information, see Configure custom notifications.

Create a monitoring rule

  1. Log on to the IoT SIM Service console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Automation Rules > Rule List.

  3. Click Create Rule and set the parameters.

    Parameter

    Description

    Rule Name

Enter an easy-to-identify name for the rule. The name cannot contain special characters and must be no more than 30 characters long.

    Monitoring Group

    Select the monitoring dimension.

    • Plan Credential: Monitor SIM cards under a specific plan credential.

    • User Tag: Monitor SIM cards that are attached to a specific tag.

    • SIM Card: Monitor all SIM cards in your account.

    Monitored Object

Select the object to monitor based on the selected monitoring group.

    Rule Type

Select the specific content to monitor. The following types are supported:

    • Usage Monitoring: Monitor traffic usage within a plan period.

    • SIM Card Management: Monitor SIM card status changes.

    • Plan Monitoring: Monitor plan expiration.

    Trigger Type

Select an appropriate option for the rule type.

    Trigger Condition

Select and enter the trigger condition.

    Push Rule

Set the notification sending period. After the first notification that meets the rule is triggered, only one merged notification is sent within the specified period. This reduces the number of notifications sent. The statistical period can be set to 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 24 hours.

  4. Click OK.
