This topic defines the terminology used with Alibaba Cloud Link WAN.
Term | Description |
|---|---|
Alibaba Cloud Link WAN | Also known as Link WAN. |
Online merchant | A user who connects gateways to build a private network. |
Application tenant | A user who uses credentials issued by a network tenant to connect devices and develop applications. |
Device partner | A partner who manufactures and sells devices that meet the Link WAN access standards. |
Service partner | A partner who has obtained a Link WAN interoperability certificate. |
Gateway | A network element in a LoRaWAN access network. It is responsible for uplink and downlink wireless communication with endpoints. |
Node | A terminal or module with LoRa communication capabilities. |
Credential | A network access credential. In the LoRaWAN protocol, the credential is written to the JoinEUI of the associated node device. Each node group uses the credential to access a specific network. |
Private credential | Access permission is limited to a user's private network. |
Ubiquitous credential | Access permission can be used to join a ubiquitous network, also known as a shared network. |
Frequency plan | The radio frequency band in which LoRa gateways and nodes operate, such as CN470 in China and AS923 in the Asia-Pacific region. |
Class A | The most power-efficient operating mode for a LoRa node. The server-side cannot actively send data to the node. Uplink data is sent on demand. |
Class B | The server-side can actively send data to the node. The node operates in a power-saving mode with controllable latency. |
Class C | The server-side can achieve real-time, bidirectional uplink and downlink communication. This mode has high power consumption and requires a fixed power supply. |
D2D | Device-to-Device operating mode. It enables point-to-point communication and supports active downlink wake-up. |
GwEUI | The identity of a LoRaWAN gateway. |
DevEUI | The identity of a LoRa node. |
Data egress | The destination for a node group's data stream. It can connect to user applications and supports MSMQ and Alibaba Cloud IoT Platform. |
CN470 | The radio spectrum resource from 470 MHz to 510 MHz in China. It can be used within the scope permitted by laws and regulations. |
AS923 | The radio spectrum resource from 920 MHz to 923 MHz in the Asia-Pacific region. It can be used within the scope permitted by laws and regulations. |
Intra-frequency | Uplink and downlink communication in a LoRa network use the same frequency. |
Inter-frequency | Uplink and downlink communication in a LoRa network use different frequencies. |
Hybrid gateway | A gateway with hybrid capabilities. It allows uplink and downlink data to be simultaneously connected to both a local edge gateway and a public cloud gateway. |
Production line configuration | Supports factory production lines. Keys downloaded from the cloud can be burned onto devices during production. |
