Manage gateways

A gateway is a network element in a LoRaWAN access network that handles wireless uplink and downlink communication with endpoints. Alibaba Cloud Link WAN provides features for managing gateways. This topic describes how to add a gateway.

Procedure

When you add a gateway, you must enter information such as its name, GwEUI, PIN Code, frequency band, and communication mode. The GwEUI and PIN Code are usually found on a label on the gateway or in the device secret.

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Link WAN console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose .

  3. On the Gateway List tab, click Add Gateway.

  4. On the Add Gateway page, configure the gateway information.

    Description

    Basic information

    Name

    The name for the gateway. The name must be 4 to 30 characters long and can contain Chinese characters, letters, digits, and underscores (_). A Chinese character counts as two characters.

    GwEUI

    A 16-digit hexadecimal GwEUI for the gateway.

    PIN Code

    A 6-digit PIN Code.

    Frequency Band

    Select one of the following frequency bands:

    • CN470 Intra-Frequency

    • CN470 Inter-Frequency

    • AS923 Intra-Frequency

    Communication Mode

    The communication mode can be Full-duplex or Half-duplex.

    Gateway Description

    Additional information about the gateway. The description can be up to 100 characters long. This parameter is optional.

    Location information

    Region

    Select the region where the gateway is located.

    Location Details

    Enter the specific location of the gateway. Alternatively, click a location on the map on the right to set the position.

  5. Click Confirm.
