You must activate the Machine Translation service to use the product. This topic describes how to activate the service.
Prerequisites
You have an Alibaba Cloud account. If you are using the Machine Translation product for the first time, you must use an Alibaba Cloud account to activate the service. For more information, see Prepare an Alibaba Cloud account.
You have created a Resource Access Management (RAM) user. To activate the Machine Translation service as a RAM user, you must ensure that the RAM user has the required permissions. For more information, see Prepare a RAM user.
An Alibaba Cloud account must have the required permissions before it can grant them to a RAM user. If the Alibaba Cloud account does not have the required permissions, the permissions granted to the RAM user will be invalid.
A RAM user is created by an Alibaba Cloud account, another RAM user with administrative permissions, or a RAM role. After creation, the RAM user belongs to that Alibaba Cloud account. A RAM user is not an independent Alibaba Cloud account.
RAM users do not own resources. Their usage is not billed independently. The Alibaba Cloud account that owns the RAM user pays for the resources used.
A RAM user must be granted permissions to log on to the console or use an API to access the resources of the Alibaba Cloud account.
A RAM user has an independent logon password or AccessKey pair.
You can create multiple RAM users under a single Alibaba Cloud account. These users can represent employees, systems, or applications within your enterprise.
Procedure
Log on to the Alibaba Cloud website.
On the Machine Translation product homepage, click Activate Now to go to the Machine Translation console.
In the Machine Translation console, select the service that you want to use and click Activate Now.
